I'm looking at booking here, seems like a good location, good price, and is available for my short 3 night stay.

Anyone have any experiences here?

Thanks,
Becky

I will be leaving on the 1st of June to stay at a place in the villas and can give you some input once I've arrived as long as your trip is far enough out that I can be of help.

Just let me know and I'll gladly give you some input.

That would be great! We don't go until February so plenty of time.

Hi, here is a post I did in 2008 about Villas at Sommerset:

Hi, you are in a good location to get to Disney World. Easy access via Osceola Parkway discussed below. I would stay off Hwy 192 to get to
Disney and pay the 75 cent toll to use the Parkway.

Villas at Sommerset are nice, not super fancy, but roomy2-3 bedroom condos that are about 12 (now about 16) years old. They have a nice walk in shower in the master bath and nice heated central pool. They are located just off highway 192 East of Disney World on Poinciana Blvd.

Quick and easy directions from Orlando International Airport or Sanford Airport:

I disagree with Mapquest on this one, plus you will know where to go the next morning:

Take SOUTH exit from Orlando International, toll 417 from Airport ("South exit toward Disney World") From Orlando
Sanford take the only 417 exit.
Take all the way to Osceola Parkway EXIT 3.
Take Osceola Parkway EAST back past Falcons Fire golf course about a mile or so..have 75 cents ready for toll exit....
Take the Poinciana Blvd exit, pay 75 cent toll. Go south on Poinciana a mile, cross hwy 192 and Villas will be on your left less than 1/2 mile.

To get to Wide World go back the same way...take Osceola Parkway WEST TO DISNEY WORLD (75 cents again) and it takes you right into Disney and Wide World will be first left hand turn at stop light...hope this helps...Have a great time...Ted

We had a great time and thanks!

The villa we stayed in was a 3bdr/2 bath upstairs unit. They are roomy and our unit was well stocked with things a family would or might need. The kitchen had all the items you would want available and it made food prep and snacking quite convenient.

The master bedroom had a King bed with 2 full size dressers along with two nightstands both with 2 doors as well. The master had a bathroom with a walk-in shower and plenty of room. A larger walk-in closet also had more than enough room for clothes and storage of luggage. There was an older television in this bedroom as well.

The 2nd bedroom had a queen bed with a dresser and nightstands. This bedroom also had a rather roomy walk-in closet as well with plenty of room. No television was included in this bedroom. I'm not sure if that is the norm or if it was just the norm at this particular unit.

The 3rd bedroom contained 2 twin beds with dressers, nightstands and a walk-in closet that was quite roomy as well. The closet also contained many items someone with a baby or toddler would find convenient. I remember seeing a highchair, portable crib and some other items. My wife and I are beyond the stage where we'd need these types of things until our grandchildren are older so I honestly didn't spend much time looking. I'm sure it was more than enough to make it more comfortable for a family with a baby though. This bedroom did not contain a television either.

All 3 bedrooms and the living room contained ceiling fans. There was supposed to be internet access in my unit but I ended up using the free access provided by the clubhouse as it was quite close to our unit and it worked fine for what I needed. I'd recommend making sure the unit you are looking at does indeed have internet if it is important to you.

The pool was heated and also included a separate jacuzzi as well. Both the pool and the jacuzzi were rather small considering the size of the complex, but I can honestly say it was never very busy at the pool so it never became a problem. If a large pool area is important for your family you might want to consider the size factor as if more than about 10 to 15 people (something that never even came close to happening while we were there) it would become a little too crowded to really enjoy.

The clubhouse had free internet access and some of the usual snack type items as well. Prices were a bit high, but no higher than you'd expect on vacation. I remember from the photos there was a pool table and some other game items in the clubhouse but we didn't spend any time there so I can't comment on those.

192 is just 1/2 mile away and there are several options for getting to the parks other than 192 as well. There is a Super Target, large Walmart Supercenter and Publix all within about 2 to 3 miles of the house as well. Of course all the tourist traps along 192 are quite close as well so options are pretty unlimited there.

If you're looking for a "resort" type location then I would not recommend this location. It is more like a home away from home that has the things you'd like to have, but you will not be "wow'd" by amenities. They are sufficient but certainly not mind blowing.

My wife and I would probably stay there again as it has the kind of things we enjoy when we stay offsite. I hope this information was helpful and if there is anything more specific I can answer just reply here or message me directly and I'll try to help.

Thanks for the review! It sounds like it will be perfect for us. We are not planning on spending all that much time here during our short stay so I think it sounds fine. While sometimes I like the amenities, I think having my own bedroom makes up for that! I think we will just enjoy having a "home away from home" for the few nights before we all cram into our cruise ship room that we will appreciate the space! I can't wait for our turn to go, just 7 1/2 months to wait... :rolleyes1
