My crew and I will be at VWL the last week in September. Never stayed at the villas. Have stayed at the WL before villas were built. Are there any villa locations that stand out, some with better views than others, closer to the main lodge etc ?

Any Villa Recommendations are greatly appreciated ! :cool1:
And any tips for staying at the lodge in general !

VWL is nestled among the fir trees and almost all of the views are of those trees...as befitting the theming of the resort. It's a small resort, so none of the rooms is all that far from the elevators or main lodge.

You could request "near the elevators" if that's important to you.

All we request is non-smoking. After that, it's all good. :thumbsup2

As for tips for the Lodge, it sounds like you've been there before. But I'll bet there's some things you don't know about WL in this thread with over 4,000 posts about WL! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=658804

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for the reply, Granny. I'm glad to hear all the Villas have nice woods views. The link was very helpful. I can't wait to get back to the lodge.

Hi stink,

Essentially all views are woods views but a few also include the quiet pool and/or Bay lake. That said, this magnificent setting will seep into your bones regardless of the location of your room.

I am sorry to say that we stayed at thw VWL in June July of this year and our room was BAD!! The VWL are not so small, we stayed in a room at the end of the hall we stepped it of to be one hundred and thirty YARDS, think about it it is longer than a footbal field!!! It was really bad when you would come in from the parks and face that loooong hall. When we told the bellman what room we were in he said next stop campgrounds. We did not get the joke until we seen the hall. To top that off our view was of the laundry facility and in the mornings the sound of the trucks delivering the laundry. We have stayed in the lodge several times and LOVE it! The VWL would have been great had we had a woods view room and not at the end of the hall. I know I have talked alot about how long the hall was but I can't believe some would design it like that! I would put close to the elevator as #1 choice as much as I HATE smoke smell! Bring some candles and air freshner.LOL

see folks others besides me have gotten that view!

sorry you got it.

last time we were there they put us right next to WL - you got a lovely view of WL.... (with a backdoor to WL)

LOL, okay this just made me laugh a bit, because 130 yards wouldn't get me half way down my driveway!

One of the neatest parts of VWL is the Iron Spike Room off the Villas lobby. Great comfy homey place! It is a combination of lodge and arts and crafts decor. LOVE it! ;)

We were at the end of the hall from the elevators (last room on the right) 4th floor if my memory serves me and that meant we had the laundry view. We love the whole WL experience and despite the long walk to the elevators and the laundry view........................we had a great time and would do it again under the exact same circumstances.

WDW is like golf to me.................there is no such thing as a bad day at either, but some are better than others.

I just stayed at VWL and had the last room on the right on the 2nd floor. I was awakened by a truck (trash or laundry truck?) at 6:30 am. I think it was laundry, as I couldn't see any dumpsters from our room.

Just my opinion, I would ask for a room before xx40 or xx41, which ever side you want to be on. The odd #'s are on the lake side and even #'s are on the parking lot side, however, you don't see the parking lot because you're too far to the right of the building. Anything xx40 or xx41 or lower will keep you only half way down the LONG hallway.

My husband and I joked when we saw the hallway, that it looked longer than the Grand Princess/Caribbean Princess' hallways :lmao: :rotfl2: . By the way, the Caribbean Princess cruiseline is one of the largest in the industry and is over 3 football fields long.

We just got back 9/4 from VWL. We had a great room (1BRV) on 4th floor, right on the Atrium, with view of the quiet pool and lake in the background.
This was most certainly a dixie dusted room! :wizard:

My advice get a map of room layouts (available on VWL thread, I think I found it there), decide where you want, and ask at check-in to get as close as you can to what you want.

To the original poster.

Except for a few rooms overlooking the pool, rooms at VWL offer woodland views. The best are odd-numbered rooms 2531 to 2563 and 3531 to 3563, which open to the northeast, or lakeside, of the resort (though you can't see the lake). Rooms on the opposite side of the same wing offer similar views, but with some roads and parking lots visible, and with traffic noise.

The advice given above is almost verbatim from the Unofficial Guide to WDW. I used it when we reserved a room there and they were right on target. Basically, what you want is a room near the corner that overlooks the villa's pool. This will give you a wonderful view of the host resort from your balcony.

Thanks for all the greatadvice. I've enjoyed reading about everyone's experiences. :thumbsup2

I'm getting really excited about this trip.

bcvillastwo - I completely agree that:

"WDW is like golf to me.................there is no such thing as a bad day at either, but some are better than others."

zfw4609 - really appreaciated your specific advice, exactly what I was looking for.

Pixie Dust to ALL !!!!!!!

Being at the end of the hallway at VWL is nothing compared to BWV by the tennis courts (we own at both by the way). We joke that when we have the standard view at BWV, we need to drop crumbs to find our way back to the elevators. ;)

Feel your pain! After a fun filled Epcot Death March we trudged to our BW view studio allllll the way down the hall. Imagine our joy when our key did not work and we had to go BACK to main area to get a new key. I thought my feet were going to fall off!

I also have been in the last room at AKL - hey maybe it is just me???? :rotfl2:

Enjoyed are stay there in May, I like BWV better thought.

LOL last year we had the last room at the end of the hallway. Hey we will be there the end of this month also. we leave next wed.

LOL, even the closest rooms at AKL are hard to locate! I found that place VERY confusing!

We had a view of the parking lot, but it was still beautiful with all the trees and landscaping.
