In DVCMike's wonderful summary of the Annual Membership meeting here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2029977 he said that another member who attended the meeting heard DVC say that the VGC will start presales in January and the resort is expected to open in November 2009.

It's happening, it's really happening! :cool1:

That said, does anyone besides me wonder if the minimum add on will be 100 points like it is at BLT? Ouch! That is more than we planned for. I kind of wish it would go on sale in the spring instead to give us more time to save up the cash. But then if it goes on sale in January then I'll get to watch the first DVC at DLR unfold sooner rather than later. So for me that will be very fun. I wonder when we'll see point charts? popcorn::

I really can't get over how eager I am to throw money at DVC. It's kind of ridiculous.

Bethy - I think you're just as excited as I am about the GC! Like you I'd like to see a point chart so I can see how many points to add on.

I did ask our guide if we decided to do a 160 point add on if we'd be able to break it into 2 or 3 smaller contacts and was told yes at the end of Sept.

Here's to hoping we hear some official news soon!:surfweb:

We're hoping to add on 50 points but that might change after the point chart comes out.

We went to DL last Friday and it would have been so nice, just to walk up to our villa after the fireworks.;)

I'm thinking 61-65pts to be able to stay 3-4 nights in a studio once a year or a 1BR/2BR every 2 to 3 years (just to have the option). I based this on the CRV point chart, I'm thinking VGC might be similar. 25 or 50 pt contracts aren't going to get you much.

Also, didn't CRV start with a lower add on minimum then go up to 100pts when it was released to the public? Maybe they saw enough interest in those first few weeks to feel comfortable with a higher min, and also saw that small add ons wouldn't give you many options.

However, given that VGC will be so limited and another DLR DVC is not in the works, I'd think they may want to get existing and even new members in with lower points and then have a wider west coast base to upsell to in later years as they open up Hawaii and other possible west coast DVCs. But, we'll see...maybe next month!

I hope this is so! I'm hoping for 75 points in 3 25 point chunks so I can leave a little something to the kids (considering what the point charts will probably be a very little something..maybe I should get 100, but then which kid gets 34 instead of 33..sibling fighting begins)
I just hope there are points left for me after the founders get done...

Since I heard this via a third-party and not directly, I am treating this as an unconfirmed rumor. Hopefully another member who was at the meeting can provide confirmation.

The November date does sound about right.

I'm selfishly hoping they allow 50-pt purchases because that's what we want. The goal would be to stay in a larger villa once every 3 years.

It would seem to make sense to allow smaller contracts in this case. If they get people like us who only visit every 2-3 years, it stands to reason that we would be more willing to buy souvenirs and other stuff during those trips. With a larger purchase minimum they get customers who are more frequent guests who spend less per trip.

Folks who bought points out of California will get an exclusive 60-day window to buy at VGC so the rest of us will have a couple month heads-up to start planning.

You could get 102 points or 99 points. :thumbsup2

I hope so too!!

I am sad about the 60 day advanage :-(

Our goal is to have enough points for a trip every 2 or 3 years also...

I think there will be lots of points after the founders are done:thumbsup2 The economy has pretty well dictated that. We plan on doing only a small add-on maybe 50-60 points just enought to get us a summer trip every 2-3 years or so.:cool2:
