Villains Land Speculation

I don't think I understand the concept art. What is the angle of viewing? Is that from the front of Pecos? Or is it on the side where haunted Mansion is?

If you’re asking about the Cars area it’s from the Liberty Belle Platform looking over toward BTMR and Tiana’s

I don't get the whole villain thing. When I was a kid we hated the bad guys.:confused3

It's okay but you know if there were no bad guys, there would be no good guys. :smooth:

I've been a Villain fan since a young child, maybe it's genetic.

I personally wouldn't even allow Hello Kitty in my house, I won't listen to country music, there are lots of genres that everyone doesn't like. To each his own.

But I assure you there is a HUGE HUGE Villains fan base. It is money Disney has been leaving on the table.

Far faster to fly a helicopter to all the places with a camera.
Probably so. But wouldn't they have put up balloons or something to the height of the proposed structures so they could gauge sight lines?

No you use lasers which gives you elevation to build 3D images. It's called lidar

2 rides doesnt seem to be ambitious enough for a land about numerous ip. And the art work is too blue sky. They have no stated there is a maleficent coaster have they? People are just guessing that based off a tiny scene in the art work that is very vague.

No matter what this is going to make the most crowded park even more crowded isn't it. Like by a lot even though there's more space to walk around.

Flight balloons are how they used to do things.
If they had used flight balloons on Tom Sawyer Island and beyond BTMRR, wouldn’t everyone have known something huge was happening?

My guess is at some point they will use drones for these tasks at some point in the near future.

It is possible the helicopter was unrelated to last week’s announcement. I going the flight path reported in the article was interesting because they apparently flew in the Villains Land and Frontierland expansion areas. I wonder how high they were? (Over Poly I was shocked how low.)

MANY years ago there was discussion regarding a villains land I believe back where New Fantasyland ended up going. There was to be an E Ticket referred to as Dark Mountain and discussed either a flume ride (Tiana) or coaster that was dark inside and potentially also outside (Everest style). I think they discussed Maleficent which makes sense with a flying dragon, or a mix of villains.

Rendering shows a coaster track top left next to a Dragon so that fits. What is interesting is in the green lit area in forefront that looks like it is underground with a waterfall, there is a coaster car zooming through it. Could be connected to track in the back. They actually could have several IPs participate in a coaster ride.

It seems to be almost standard now for two rides, depending on theme one being more thrill ...

2 New Fantasyland, 2 Galaxy Edge, added 2 to Toy Story (TSMM was there), 2 Pandora. If they add enough shops, dining spots (PLEASE CHARACTER MEAL), meet & greet (make them rotate) you could cover plenty of them for a base and maybe rotate some special or lesser ones.

I hope they try to incorporate some woods and bridge scene from the headless horseman. When you first walk into the land past BTMRR before crossing the bridge you see a pumpkin. Walking across the bridge you start hearing hoof steps and they get louder as you cross on other side of the bridge is a dense forest with thorns. As you walk into the forest it curves and right when the hoofs get the loudest you see the headless horseman.

Unless they increase the total number of visitors they will allow on any given day
Well they have to increase the visitors more then extra lands and rides allows for. Since visitor numbers rarely hit their caps then disney doesnt control visitor numbers. Expanding space and putting in more rides makes things less crowded. Its illogically absurd to assume it does the opposite. Yes overall crowds will rise but they will more greatly spread which likely reduces crowding (outside of opening months).

The only way it becomes more crowded is if disney dramatically lowers their prices. And what are the odds of that?

My biggest issue with the concept art and the physical space is it can get really tight on that said of the park. So if there is any chance that the boardwalk and water nearby goes away completely I think there might be crowd control issues for awhile. Also I just really like that boardwalk and the ropes and the scenery so I hope that part is kept. I am hugely partial to the Adventureland/Frontierland/Liberty Square side of the park so I just hope that whatever they do it will tie everything together and keep with the spirit of that half of the park.

And since the major cars attraction is likely going to be some form of a Radiator Springs Racer clone, if they even get to 80 percent of how RSR looks I will be super happy. We can quibble about the number of attractions in the last 4 major expansions at WDW but you cannot quibble that they are some of the most beautiful areas of the parks.

Transportation, entrance plaza and Main Street will all automatically be more congested. It’s a very big assumption to conclude that the added square footage per guest will be equal to or greater than number of guests added. I don’t fault them for doing this, but there’s no way I’m celebrating this as making MK less crowded feeling. This will grow the demand, that brings in more people without lowering prices. Think of the added 4 cruise ships announced. If it were truly a zero growth demand model, they’d be foolish to increase capacity. Clearly they believe there is untapped demand for the parks and cruises, so adding on to both the same way. You just can’t easily add a wing onto a ship, but you can a park.

Will be interesting to see if it will result in a net increase in guests, or just prevent the losses to Universal. How many more people can come to Orlando that aren't already doing it?
