DS and DD will be turning 6 in April. DS doesn't always make his wishes known, but he is very clear that he wants a "Villains Cake" this year. I always have made them both their own birthday cakes and have been pretty creative in the past. Now they just assume I can make anything (soooo NOT).

I can't seem to find any ideas online, does anyone have any suggestions?

Does he want a specific villain? I am having a hard time thinking up a "generic" villain idea...

A Monsters Inc cake might be pretty easy but the monsters aren't really villians (except for that evil shape-shifting one whose name eludes me)

I am having a total brain freeze about villains. I can only think of Malificient, Cruella, the Evil Queen in Snow White, and Cinderella's evil stepmother.

See if he will describe what's in his mind. DD1 had a mystery party this year and I made her cake shaped like a magnifying glass (I just used one round layer and one square layer, which I cut in half) Maybe he would like a cake shaped like a sword or something?

Here's something cute if he likes Captain Hook, and a pirate theme for his party would be fun and easy

Here's an idea. A lot of places now do these stick-on edible decorations that have photos on them. See if your local bakery will just sell you the stick on decoration and give them a color copy of a Disney Villains group clipart. Then you can stick the clipart on a pre-made cake at home, OR you can have the bakery do a cake for you with black and purple icing, etc.

At home, you could make Jello parfaits with black (mix Cherry and Blueberry)jello, whipped cream and see if the bakery will sell you (if they have any) black sugar bat confetti thingies (I forget what they are called..nonpariels???).

Hope this helps!

Can you draw? If not trace a picture onto waxed paper then lay paper onto iced cake(i prefer to freeze the cake slightly so the icing is hard) and poke holes to get the general shape you want, its a very easy way to do cakes of any design.
I do cakes where I draw the characters onto a slab cake--fill in with a variety of colored icings, then outline and add details with black icing--they turn out fabulous!

Thanks for the ideas everyone! I asked DS to describe his cake again. He now says that he wants a villains/heroes cake with Ursula, Captain Hook, Hades, Malificent, and the bad guy from Mulan on one side, and Ron Stoppable, Kim Possible, Rufus, the Incredibles, Peter Pan, Mulan, Batman, Superman, and Flash Gordon on the other side. :rotfl2:

My current ideas are to find miniature action figures/cake decorations and make a cake with a hill on it. Have the bad guy action figures climbing up one side and the good guys climbing up the other. Or...I might just print out pictures of all the characters, laminate them, glue them to picks that will then be put into many cupcakes.

I can only imagine what kind of cake DD will want  . Last year I was up until about 2am decorating the cakes for their party. I'll try to remember to post a picture after their party (in April).

on a purly "villians" note-the original play of peter pan has a story line and a song sung by captain hook about a cake. he and smee plot out making a cake "with icing laced with poinson till it turns a tempting green". he leaves it for the lost boys to eat but wendy won't let them eat it.

i like the miniture idea-i'm also thinking that however you do the cake make one side's frosting in the darker villians colors (the deep reds, purples and blacks maybe with flames) and the other side in the pastels the heros tend to wear with their insignia's piped on.

we recently bought ds a heros and villians miniture set off disney.com and it came with a good selection of the basics. they might be a good resource for all of the disney ones.

Can you decorate a cake at all? I mean, using the bag and tips?If so, try a frozen buttercream transfer. As long as you have the bags and tips, you can do this. It is just like tracing! Frozen Butter Cream Transfer

I've mostly done sculptured cakes, or used the Wilton character pans. They've had Nemo, Dory, Rainbow Fish, a Giant #1, Winnie the Pooh, a Pony shaped cake, and a Spiderman shaped cake. I've also made a massive book shaped cake for my mothers birthday. Kind of like a giant old fashioned photo album with black and white edible pictures of her through the years.

The frozen transfer technique looks interesting, and I'd like to try it sometime, but I'm afraid it will be too much work considering the number of characters he wants on the cake.

I tend to spoil them a little for their birthday. Also, DS hasn't always expressed his wishes for things. He would just repeat what his twin sister wanted. I'm sure I'll figure something out.
