Hi Folks,

Another quick question. We have booked a Beach Club Villa for our wedding in May but its pretty expensive, im hoping the cost will come down closer to the time but then i think, hey its our wedding and we should treat ourselves. I got the villa thinking there would be lots more room to get ready on the day, have a kitchen to be able to make snacks for guests and socialise with them but is there a BIG difference in room sizes between a villa and a deluxe king bed room? As there is a big differenc in price...

Check over on the DVC - Rent/Trade forum. You can rent points directly from a DVC member and pay a lot less than going directly through Disney for the same room. :thumbsup2

FI and I will also have a 1 Bedroom Villa for our wedding and I'm looking forward to the extra space.

Hope this helps!

Thanks sheriBerry!! Have you rented points for your villa? Have you stayed at one before? This may sound cynical but if you rent points from an individual how do you know that they will keep up their side - whatever that may be? Sorry im not being pessimistic but with such an important occasion as a wedding extra stress is not something i would look for!:hippie:

Hi we have a 1 bed villa at the boardwalk booked we cancelled our concierge room for the villa as there is literally twice as much space! We used the 45% annual passholder discount and found that this was cheaper than renting points and we get our room cleaned everyday!

Look out for discounts that Disney offer - hope you can get a good rate!

We have not rented points...Fi and his parents are DVC members.

I've lurked a little on the DVC boards and it seems like the trustworthy members will provide you with references. I think most who rent tend to go through paypal using a credit card so there is some support should something go wrong (not that it will but just in case, you can always put on a dispute with your credit card company). I'm sure there are other DISbrides on here who have rented points and they should be able to give you their thoughts/experiences.

I know I've rambled a bit but the people (DVC members) on the DVC - Rent/Trade board will have more answers for you than I will...since they've all done it before.

We had a 2 bedroom villa for our wedding day (there were 5 of us in it). It's the same as a 1 br, just with the door opened to a studio. The size is wonderful, especially for ceremony preparations. There's a number of pictures in my TR of it, although they don't help too much for size reference. We're DVC members, and we almost always stay in a 1 br at the Beach Club when we visit!

We rented DVC points for our honeymoon (Beach Club Villas + Animal Kingdom Villas) and it worked out really well. When you find someone on the DVC rent/trade board who's willing to rent to you, you can usually tell by their post history and number of posts whether they are genuine DISers or just people who sign up to rent points. (And even if they're the latter, it doesn't necessarily mean they're scammers.)

I've rented from these boards before - and it was definitely easy and saved us a lot of money. You can get references. The person I rented from sent me the confirmation from Disney and we had a written contract that both of us signed. She was very professional and easy to deal with. I'd recommend finding someone who is experienced and has a contract and references.

My parents are DVC members and will be renting a large villa at Bay Lake for my family during out wedding week which we could use to get ready of the morning of the wedding...however I am having 6 bridesmaids and a flower girl and while it might be fun to all get ready together the thought of having almost 10 ladies getting ready in one space on my wedding day just stresses me out! So I am going to be staying in a king room at the Grand Floridian, where our wedding will be with my sister (MOH), Mom, and I for the night before the wedding and then just have the rest of the girls meet us there when theyre all ready! Plus, for the rest of the trip it will just be my fiance and I so I dont think we need a big room anyways!

WOW thanks somuch guys!! Your comments are totally invaluable!!!! Think i will stay with the 1 bed villa and see if we can get the annual passholders discount a couple of months. really appreciate the comments !!!
