Viewing Illuminations from American Gardens?

Don't laugh but I'm already thinking about our xmas trip and have a question. If we go to the last show of the candlelight processional it looks like illuminations starts right after that. Can we stay in the American Gardens Theatre to see it or will it be a mad rush to find a good viewing spot?

You won't be able to see Illuminations from the American Gardens Theater. The stage totally blocks your view of the water and sky.
