Videos from the library

DD and I went to the library this morning. She picked out a couple of Dora videos along with a few books. We get home and go to put one in and there are pieces from the video missing (the plastic part that covers the tape.) So I put the other one in instead and now it is stuck in my VCR! When I push play the tape sounds like it is crinkling and there is no picture. I tried to get it out but no luck.

I should know better than to borrow really used tapes, but we have not had this problem before.

Anyone know a trick to getting a tape out of a VCR?

Sorry I don't have any advice for you, but I sure hope you do have an understanding library. I saw a young mom also bring back a damaged tape and very loudly the librarian said, I am sorry you are going to have to pay to replace it etc. It was obvious the vcr damaged it but I am also sure it was played countless times beyond its useful life. Did you try a sledgehammer?

To avoid tearing it, you can unscrew the cover on the VCR. DH has to do it every once in a while to get out library tapes! Or we've had them "gum up" the heads! Good luck!

Well, DH just got the tape out. He had to take apart the VCR to do it.

I think the sledgehammer would have been the next step.

Michelle-we posted at the same time.

DH did have to take off the top of the VCR, but at least he got it out.

I hate videos from the library! Had to buy a new VCR b/c of one. Glad you got yours out.
