is it possible to get all my 1st wdw vacation on tape, do they let you film most of the attractions, will it be to much trouble to carry around the camcorder.
I've taped quite a lot in WDW, there are a couple of rides, ie splash mountain, peter pan etc that are just too dark to get much in and of course you have to be wary of the water involved in SM, but mainly its wonderful to tape the parades, the people watching and the general atmosphere around the parks.
I taped a lot last year, and I'll be taping a lot this year, too. Whether the camera is a bother to carry around depends on how big it is. Mine is a Sony Digital8... not as small as the newer MiniDV camcorders, of course, but not huge, either. I didn't have too much problem carrying it. I actually saw someone using an old VHS camcorder in the parks on our last trip. I would never be able to carry THAT around.
Most of the attractions allow taping-- a few don't. The ones that don't will tell you before the show.
Make SURE you don't use any external video lights. Flip out screens are also a no go in the dark-- you'll just distract everyone else.
Also, don't spend all of your time filming! If you do tape a show, get the shot in the viewfinder, then look away from the camera, checking it every minute or so to make sure you're still focused. Don't go to WDW and spend all your time looking through the eyepiece of a camcorder.
I have a digital camera (Canon A510) which allows me to tape up to 3 minutes at a time of video with audio. I can tape repeatedly back to back, total amount only limited by the size of my memory card. Since I'm going to be bringing the digital camera anyway, it's a good alternative for me than carrying around our camcorder.
