Video of Renovated OKW One-Bedroom

An outdated shower looks like one that has had nothing changed in it in years.

Even regrouting, and changing fixtures and doors would be an improvement.

It looks like they did this on the cheap. Mixing paint colors here and there. Not changing out stuff except for the chair in the living room and putting that ugly monstosity in the room instead. The headboard on the bed is beyond ugly.

I don't see how this is a 95% replacement. Looks like about a 40% replacement. I wonder whose best buddy in the whole world got the contract to do this work???

.

I don't disagree with any of what you say, but I particularily agree with the above comments. I would expect a 95% replacement to include light fixtures, cabinets, doors, ceiling fans, door hardware etc. etc. It doesn't look to me like that was the case at all. It doesn't even look like they replaced the appliances.

I REALLY dislike the headboard in the master....LOVED the metal bed frame. Everything in the living room looks like it needs something to punch it up. That ugly chair is one eyesore, but why didn't they at least put an area rug down somewhere to give it some color? I also agree with others that the roman shades would look better in the living room as well.

I was wondering about the appliances. It's hard to tell from a video whether or not they were replaced. They were all replaced after the last semi-major renovations; I assumed they'd do the same this time. I'm hoping the ugly chair is so comfortable (as a chair, not a bed) that it makes up for its looks. ;)

Well, if it's like the one at AKV (and it looks like it is), it is NOT going to be comfortable as a chair.

I'm wondering about the carpet in the bedroom. We stayed in a one-bedroom in bldg 62 in March that had had the carpet replaced with "wood" flooring in the living room AND the bedroom. Nothing else had been done to that unit at the time, but we assumed that was going to be the plan for the reno. Maybe it was just a test reno. :confused3

Hi,
Does anyone know if the mattresses were replaced in the refurbished rooms? Hoping for softer ones like other DVCs have. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the mattresses are being replaced. We're currently in a renovated studio, and they seem more comfortable, still firm, but comfortable. And we saw mattresses being removed from building 45. That building is basically gutted, waiting for walls to be painted. The closet doors are sitting out on the balconies, and the light fixtures are covered in plastic. The window treatments have been removed. We could see that much from the OKW>DtD Boat.

The renovation reminds of the line from Steel Magnolias, where Shelby's colors are "Blush and Bashful" and her mom says "Her colors are Pink and Pink!" OKWs new wall colors are Blue and Blue.

So where can I find the video of the ugly OKW studio. OKW is my first love as far as DVC resorts, so I hope I don't think it to be ugly also.

Can you post pics? Please:)

We stayed in a 2BR in Bldg 32 from 5/28-6/4, and to me the bedroom carpets seemed new.

I will when I return home. My "good camera" won't connect to the laptop, and the webcam I can access is pretty poor quality.

The rooms are "pretty", I can't say as I like the medium beige carpet..I think it will show the dirt quickly. It all seems more "beach" themed than "Old Key West" theme.

The light fixtures are the same. The headboards and TV cabinet have been repainted dark brown. Bathrooms are the same, except the coral paint is now all creamy eggshell white, and the table/chairs have been repainted to almost their original color, only no "distressed" look. The chair seats have new blue/beige plaid fabric.

All in all not bad, just not a great match for the resort "theme."

For an idea of color, the wall behind the headboard is almost a perfect match for the OKW blue Fiestaware coffee mugs. The rest of the walls are a lighter pastel blue.
