Video of Renovated OKW One-Bedroom

Will they now let you put nine in a two bedroom since they added a sleeper chair or five in a one bedroom?

Yes it will be interseting to see if they do 9+1 (instead of just 9) for DVC members and 9+1 for CRO like BLT nad most of AKV.

:sad2:I'm a big fan of "OLD" OKW - thats why we joined DVC.
 I am really disappointed with these changes.

Can anyone tell me if all the buildings have been renovated?

We are going in August this year and have requested one of the rooms in an elevator block. Buildings 62/63/& 64 I think?

Does anyone know if these have been renovated yet?::worried:

The renovations won't be completely done until fall of next year but I did read from a DVCer that a CM at check-in informed him that Building 30, 31, 32, 33, 40 and 43 were renovated

At OKW now. They are doing bldg 41 as we speak, and I think (but am not quite sure) 42.

Did they do anything to the showers in the 1 or 2 BR's? When we were there 3 weeks ago, the shower in our 1BR looked a little outdated and worn....

I'm confused. :confused3 What does an "outdated" shower look like? A shower is a shower...a place to get clean. Not to pick on you, but I'm so tired of reading posts on how outdated everything is. In my opinion, this is why so many people are in financial trouble....they always have to have everything new that comes along whether what they already have is still functional or not.
Rant over....sorry Duane...nothing personal. ;)

We also love the way OKW has been since the beginning. I'm trying really hard to find some positives in the changes since we have no choice; the changes are being made. I was extremely disappointed in the studio - those made the changes in the 1BR look a lot better. ;) One of the only positives I can come up with at the moment is they didn't reduce the size of the units.:rotfl2: I'm hoping once I see the 1BR in person, I'll change my mind and love the new units.

The showers were one of the things I was trying to see on the video (no luck). The current ones have the old style doors and lots fo caulk (which collect grunge).

Well, since they seem to have kept the tile and fixtures, I'm sure they also kept the showers. Maybe they changed out the hardware and faucets?:confused3

I agree, I think they needed to redo the showers. They are old looking. I think they could have done a better job with the refurb. The color of the chair in the LR is horrible.

The bathroom walls were painted, the mirror over the pedestal sink was refinished and the hardware was replaced on the vanity.

I understand its nothing personal about your response to my post... However, the overall look and condition of the shower in our room was "old and outdated". The doors were old and clouded, the ceiling above the shower had a certain amount of "black stuff" on it, the shower head looked like something they picked up at a discount store, and the areas around the door had been touched up with caulk and did not look very clean. Did it serve its purpose and was it functional, you bet, but so would a garden hose and nozzle.

Now don't get me wrong, I know these villas get used A LOT, with little time to turn them around before the next guests arrive. But as time and styles change, a resort has to try to keep up with maintenance as well as keep up with the styles. Disney is trying to portray a certain standard with their accomodations and its up to us, at least as DVC members to keep their feet to the fire to make sure they stay on track (as best we can).

Now I don't want to sound as if I'm a OKW hater, I'm not. In fact, if I were to add on points to any resort, this would be the place. I think Disney is doing the right thing by doing the refurbs, however, I think they need to do it all the way, just not make-up and lipstick....

I don't think we've gotten a clear view of the master bath, maybe they have refurb the shower. I guess we have to wait ans see. As far as the shower heads at OKW, they're pretty similar to the ones at AKV, Jambo, don't know about Kidani, haven't stayed there yet..

We have been members for over a dozen years. What is outdated about the shower in the bathroom? Hopefully everyone realizes that any changes, refurbishments, etc. come out of our dues. I know I could not afford to make all the changes I would like around my own home every time a style changes or something looks/feels outdated :).

What is "outdated" when you are talking about a theme? I guess if you call old shower doors outdated, then yeah, put new shower doors on, but the material the shower is made of is a solid surface quartz product. I see no reason to replace that unless it's cracked or something.

Since those are the newest buildings I would guess they would be among the last to be refurbed.

It looks like they did this on the cheap. Mixing paint colors here and there. Not changing out stuff except for the chair in the living room and putting that ugly monstosity in the room instead. The headboard on the bed is beyond ugly.

The living room table is identical the one currently in the villa, same as the chairs, just new paint and new fabric. Looks like they just repainted all the furniture that they kept.

I do like the roman shades on the patio doors, why didn't they put roman shades on all the windows????

The ceiling fans need new blades. They really sag a lot. And it looks like they didn't do anything to the ceiling fans.

I don't see how this is a 95% replacement. Looks like about a 40% replacement. I wonder whose best buddy in the whole world got the contract to do this work???

As for the shower, they need to clean out the clear sealant and replace it. The shower in our villa has a little bit of mildew along the edges of the sealant. It is easily scraped out and could be replaced making the shower look better.

Since they are putting in the LCD tvs, its all good to me and OKW is back on my list.
