Video of Renovated OKW One-Bedroom

Are the renovations done? We are headed to a 1 bedroom at the end of the week.

The renovations won't be completely done until fall of next year but I did read from a DVCer that a CM at check-in informed him that Building 30, 31, 32, 33, 40 and 43 were renovated...I'm hoping he is right as we rqsted 43...

Is there a video for a refurbed studio.
Me and OH are thinking about staying here for honeymoon what do you think?
Will we fall inlove?
xx

I'm hoping the studio video (which was very poor to begin with) was just bad photography, and that the colors wont be as bad as it looked. I'll still reserve judgement until I see a renovated room. I think the biggest disappointment for me so far is that ugly sleeper chair replacing the rather pretty lounge chair and ottoman.

The ugly sleeper chair, the dark dining table and the dark headboards are rather disappointing. Did anyone notice that rather than leave the paneling in the kitchen the same neutral color as the cabinets, they painted it green?(above the counter next to the table) Not too crazy about that either.

The sleeper chair is hideously ugly. Like the roman shades on the patio doors.

Don't see any tile flooring in the kitchen which I was hoping they would leave.

Carpet in bedrooms looks ok, glad they did that instead of hardwood.

Its ok, could have been better especially that chair.

The dining room table looks like the same table with a new darker finish, will be interesting to see how that holds up to scratches.

At least the walls are still the light pinky color, if I remember right. Weren't the studio walls changed to a medium/darkish blue? I wonder why they didn't make that change in 1 BR walls too. Whatever their reason, though, I'm glad they didn't.

The walls in my video were not pink, they were more a cream color.

Agree that the 1 bdrm looks better than the studio. That chair looks out of place :confused3- I know it's great to be able to sleep another person and the old wicker chair was uncomfortable, but a they needed a different color or print on it. Glad to see the kitchen still looks good - my favorite thing about OKW. Are those crawfish on the bedspread?

I made this video. I've been reading the DISboards for many years. This is the first time I wrote on it. I am a DVC member. OKW is my favorite resort. I can live with most of the changes, but I don't like the mustard colored wall behind the bed.

Thanks for taking the time to post the video. I was hoping it was the video that made the walls look yellow. :( I'm not crazy about some of the changes, but I really hate mustard yellow walls.

It just looks as if it's been done on the cheap to me! What's with the mismatch of dark and light coloured wood - just horrible!

We stayed in a BWV renovated room last year and again I didn't like it as much as the original decor (apart from the teacup lamp - which I loved).

I think the renovations have somehow lost that Disney charm and creativity and are pretty much just generic hotel rooms now.

I own at both resorts so it might have been nice to have a say in where my dues were spent!

I was told the furniture was made better when OKW was built so they refinished it. The bedroom furniture is now white with dark stain tops and new hardware. The headboard is new.

Thank you for making the video Candy. I hope you didn't mind me posting the link to it. Lots of us have been waiting to see anything about the renovated villas at our beloved OKW.

Bob

P.S. Welcome to the DISBoards!

I was happy you posted my video because I wanted everyone to see the new OKW. Thank you for the warm welcome!

Thanks for the video and I was pretty sure it was the same furniture with a new finish.

As to this redo of OKW. I got the impression this was going to be a major enchancement. I am sorry but putting in cheap fake wood floors, repainting old furniture which will now scratch easily and soon look horrible, is not my idea of an enhancement.

This just reenforces in my opinion that DVC has begun to cheapen the maintenance, and rehap of DVC resorts.

The new rooms at Coronado Springs, Yacht and Beach make this look like an interstate model in decor.

Why did OKW get those tacky bedspreads when the Disney resorts got the new duvet covers that can be laundry and kept clean. :confused3

I was wondering about the beadspreads too. They could have used print fabric duvet covers and gotten the same look. Most would think the duvet covers would be too modern, but there are ways to make it fit the theme.

it looks like they are put granite on the countertop, i think wood floors, flat screens, painted, new blinds, new beds, etc...i think it looks nice and it still has the charm of 1900 Key West, can't wait to go in 27 days!!! hopefully we get one of the renovated rooms...
