We are thinking of a romantic date night at Victoria and Albert's. Do you think it would be a worthwhile splurge? Has anyone eaten there before who would be able to give me some feedback on their experience?

Thanks so much,

Susan

Hi Susan, we did Victoria & Albert's for our 10th wedding anniversary as our gift to each other. It was an amazing experience!

I was looking forward to it much more than my husband, who bless his heart, said before the meal "This will be something nice to have done once in your life" Once?!?! Even before the meal I was pretty sure that I wanted to do it again.

By the second or third course he was talking about how we should to the Chef's Table next time we go. The food (as fancy and 'foreign' sounding as it was to him) had won him over and he was hooked. We haven't been back in our two trips since that magical anniversary dinner, but we will be going back on this next trip. To the Chef's Table no less :lmao:

So yes, I definitely think it's worth the splurge. The food is outstanding and the ambiance is unmatched by anything else at Disney.

We've done this and it is certainly something you will remember forever. Take a look at the V&A page along with the restaurant menus here on the DIS :disrocks:

We went for the first time in September. The atmosphere and service alone is worth the price of admission, but the food....incredible.
I am a foodie and it was the best dining experience I have ever had.
Take the plunge, its worth every penny :)

If you sit in the dining room, rather than the Chef's table, can you still let them know your likes and dislikes? Or are you stuck with the fixed menu?

Thanks!

I would not use the term "stuck", as you have choices for each course. Here is a menu from about a year and a half ago where you can see choices for each course. And if you have specific dislikes or allergies they can work around them for you. (And I'm going again Monday and will do a scan and post the current menu.)

OK, I'm trying not to be too dense, but do you get to choose one or two items out of each course?

We have also enjoyed dinner at V&A and agree with the other posters. It is definitely worth the $$$$$. :thumbsup2

In the main dining room, each person can pick one item from each course. There is a regular menu and a vegetarian menu and you can cross-select from them. A few of the dishes have a surcharge; I think I paid $30 extra for abalone and $80 for real Japanese Wagyu beef. There is caviar, too, if you're in need of a more serious walletectomy.

V&A is one of my favorite restaurants in the country. I have paid more elsewhere and have not enjoyed it as much.

Thank you! Now I get it. Sounds wonderful, especially the Wagyu add on.

They serve one of the highest grades of Wagyu available. I've had a lot of Kobe (and imitation "Kobe style") beef and can only think of one place where it was as good as V&A.

I totally agree. We have paid more elsewhere and the food & service did not compare to V&A. Plus, we did not get personalized keepsake menus nor roses for the ladies...

This is the reservation I am MOST excited about. We're leaving New York at 8AM (so, um, 5:30AM alarm), and have a 9:15 PM reservation.... will definitely need to work a nap in there sometime.

Yes, that's a good idea. V&A is a leisurely dining experience, so you wouldn't want to nod off before dessert... LOL You will have an amazing time!

I'll probably just sleep on the plane... Three hour flight is a little much for me.
