Victoria & Albert's Without Wine Pairing?

Did anyone do Victoria & Albert's without the wine pairing before? I love Victoria and Albert's and I loved the wine they chose to go with the meals. I just found it a little too much alcohol and wound up asking them to take one of the glasses away.

But I don't want to spoil the dining experience by just having a half bottle and it not tasting right with everything. Anyone else tried not having the wine pairing? How did it work out?

I only did the wine pairing for our first visit and it was way too much wine for me. Every visit since then, I just have still water. I will sometimes ask for a glass of red to have with the meat course, but honestly, the other courses, I am fine without the wine.

Of course, if I'm very good, my husband may let me have a sip of each of his glasses.

I don't drink wine -- just Diet Coke. LOL! so I didn't have the wine pairings. Worked out great for me! It's an incredible restaurant. The food will taste fabulous even without the wine.

Nowadays we always do the pairings, but In the old days we used to order a bottle--they have a fine wine list. I sometimes see people with beer, coke, mixed drinks, iced tea, water, etc.

If you still want wine, you can ask for a partial pairings. You will be charged by the glass and they should be able to recommend wines that will be reasonable to cover two or three of the courses.
