Going to V&A's for the first time next week. I see (on Dis Boards Restaurant page info) that the price is $125 PP, yet when I read the menu, some, not all, foods have a price next to them. So, how does this work?

Also, it says in the review that V&A's is a 6 course meal, yet all I see listed is appetizer, entree and desert. Again, what's the story??

Thanks, very much looking forward to this great dining experience, just want alittle knowledge/info before we go.

Karen :)

$125 PP covers the basic meal (which is far from basic). Those items you see with a price next to them cost extra. For instance if you got the Kobe beef instead of one of the other entrees, it would be $35 extra, so your meal would be $160. But if you got the lamb or tenderloin that's included in the $125 PP price.

right. In other words some of the super high end options (like caviar or kbe beef) would be an additional charge on top of the $125pp. Really though you can enjoy yourself in a decadent way without adding those things imo! Although Dh had the kobe and foie gras last year and it is still all he can talk about lol!

OK, great, now I get it :thumbsup2
Thanks to all of you :flower3:

So now, how about the number of courses :confused3
Are there 6 or 3..appetizer, entree and desert (which would be fine). Just curious, would like to know what to expect.

Thanks again to all,

Karen :)

1) Actually there are six courses.
2) Plus, palate cleaners between some of the courses.
3) There are other extras, of course for additional cost
. . . wine pairings, where they select different wine for different courses
. . . separate wine selections, where you select wines from the cellar
. . . special foods (eg. caviar)

I guess you could even say 7 courses!!

You get....
1 - amuse bouche...a little morsel that you won't even know what it is until it is put down on the table.
2 & 3 - appetizer courses??? I guess
4 - fish course
5 - main course
6 - cheese/sorbet course
7 - dessert

Have a wonderful time...it is my FAVORITE experience while at WDW!!!

And I agree with a PP, you don't need to order any extras to enjoy...but the kobe and the foie gras....amaaaaazing!!

When I went last month the menu (with extra price item indicated) was

1 - Amuse Bouche

2 - Tamarind-Ancho Marinated Gulf Shrimp with Heirloom Tomato Vinaigarette
Jumbo Lump and Dungeness Crab with California Asparagus Salad
Iranian Golden Osetra Caviar with Traditional Garnish ($150 ½ oz, $300 1 oz)

3 - Truffle Cured Poussin with Spring Morels and English Peas
Poached South Carolina Quail with Black Mission Figs and Fuji Apples
Pan Roasted Foie Gras with Georgia Peach Tart and Mostarda di Cremona ($20)

4 - Virginia Black Bass Amandine with Bean Ragout and Marcona Almonds
Alaskan Red King Salmon with Torpedo Onions and Demi-Tasse Cup of Smoked Salmon
Seared Wild Turbot with Toasted Capers and Meyer Lemon ($30)

5 - Niman Ranch Lamb with Artichokes and Zellwood Corn
Kurobuta Pork Tenderloin and Belly with Banana Squash Ragout
Marcho Farms Veal Tenderloin with Braised Veal Cheeks and Burgundy Poached Sweet Breads
Australian "Kobe" Beef Tenderloin with Smoked Garlic Puree ($35)
Japanese Wagyu Strip Loin with Oxtail Jus ($80)

6 - Colson Bassett Stilton, Tarentaise and Nettle Meadow Kunik
White Chocolate Gelato with Micro Mint

7 - Tanzanian Chocolate Pyramid, Hawaiian Kona Chocolate Souffle and Peruvian Chocolate Ice Cream & Pastry
Berry Gateau with Mango Yogurt Panna Cotta
Caramelized Banana Gateau
Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee
Grand Marnier Souffle
Hawaiian Kona Chocolate Souffle

8 - "Celebes" Coffee, Tea and Friandise

Darn that sounds amazing! It's almost worth getting dressed up for. But I refuse to wear a tie and jacket on vacation.

I'm from Virginia and I have never heard of a Blass Bass.

Do they still do that glass coffee pot at the end? I think they called it a Kona? That was fascinating!!

Friandise is French for "sweets" so I wonder if they mean candies or fruit.

I was told that V&A would call to ask about any food issues we might have. Did they? Or should I call them a week before or so to discuss - d won't eat seafood, so the fish course won't work for her, and I'm allergic to crab.

How flexible will they be?

They usually call about a week before..but no harm in calling them. They are usually very flexible in arranging for substitutions, food allergy problems, etc.

I would be very interested in trying V&A for a special dinner, but I didn't recognize 1 single food on that list. :rolleyes1
