My daughter has always wanted to stay at the GF. DH and I like having the amenities of a 1br villa. If we stay VGF will we still get the experience of staying at the GF proper? Are we the redheaded stepchildren of the GF by staying in the villas?

If we are going to spend that much, I want it to be great. Either way, I'm also worried since our stay will be late Nov/early Dec and the gingerbread crowds.

No, there’s no difference. You’ll be treated the same as any guest at the GF, whether you’re staying in a DVC building or one of the other GF buildings. Enjoy your stay!

I’m here now & have been since late Nov. - the lobby crowds at Christmas are just a fact of life at the GF this time of year as are the folks posing for photos w/ the Christmas tree - this year there are a couple photo pass photographers set up around the tree. The lobby actually feels a bit less crowded than past years to me, likely because 1900 Park Fare is still closed & Narcoossees & Conch Key are both being refurbished.
I actually like the quiet of the villas building, the penguin fountain in the lobby is charming. I’ve never felt different staying in the DVC building compared to before I bought DVC & stayed as a cash guest - the DVC building is just one of several outer buildings & the 1 br.s are lovely.

Thanks @sndral I'm so excited to be able to give my DD her "dream" at Disney and I get my kitchen and washer drier lol. Plus we will cater a couple of meals from an awesome chef we used in May. Thanks for the reassuring words.

Also, if you enjoy walking, there is a nice, lit walking path from the GF to MK.

VGF 1BR is an amazing room. It has the GF room service and robes and pools. I'm sure there's a GF level of concierge you aren't allowed to use, but you have the other stuff.

We own at VGF and have also stayed concierge in the main building of the resort. To me, there is definitely a difference. Staying at the hotel during the holiday season is far more enjoyable and a much better Christmas experience. Not sure about the outer buildings.

If you stay in the outer buildings for the GF resort and stay at GFV the experience will be the similar though a regular room vs a one-bedroom villa will be very different.

If you stay in the main building club level, definitely a much different experience.

I might say that staying in the main VGF building is better than staying in the outer GF buildings. There's a covered walkway to the main building which from experience I can say is way better in the rain.

Main building club level I do imagine is much different - never have done that though.

Your cat is beautiful. I know this is totally off topic, but every time I see your avatar, I want to tell you.

While I am a huge fan of the GF hotel, the separate villa building is a different story. It may be beautiful inside (never stayed there), but the building itself looks like a quickly built, big, gaudy box. IMO it doesn’t even architecturally match the GF hotel portion.
