I was just curious for anyone who is on the waitlist...Did you have to leave a credit card on file? It just didn't make sense to me since of course they would be able to get that credit card number when they get inventory.

When they actually get the points who knows if I will actually be in a position to add on and wouldn't want them to charge my card automatically.

I have never heard of that, and you are right what is the purpose of giving your cc # now? I am interested also to see if any has had this experience.

When I ased about adding on direct last October, they said Id have to come to the sales center, sign some paperwork, give them a CC, just to be officially on the waitlist. When they told me the price per point I decided to go resale instead. I guess they just want to be certain that you're serious about buying rather than go on to the next person?

When we were going to go on a waitlist for BCV points in 2005, our guide did ask for a $500 CC deposit, but she said it wouldn't be charged until the points came in, and that we would have plenty of time to change our minds. It seemed reasonable to me since it meant we were somewhat serious about wanting the points. I thought it was good that we could still back out when the points came in, because a lot can change in a month or so. Turns out the points never came in until we signed a resale contract!

As mentioned, the credit card is likely for the deposit, since you have the option to finance the purchase as well (not that you'll take this option, but they won't leave it out). I would consider it earnest money while under contract, which usually sits in an escrow account until closing.

Thank you! I just wanted to confirm this was standard procedure. I don't feel comfortable with my guide and don't trust her for some reason.

I just did an add on and despite needing to be on the waitlist briefly, I had to give my CC. Why would you not trust your guide? If you really feel that way, you really should ask for someone else.

Especially, if you suspect they would fraud your CC number, you really should reconsider buying. Disney is on the up and up and there is no reason to think your guide is dishonest in any way...

We had to give our CC# to be put on the waiting list. Our guide said that it wouldn't be charged until the points became available and the charge would be just for the deposit.
