It might be too early to tell, but what have people found so far?

We want to go next may for 5 nights in a 1 bedroom, the exact week isn't an issue. Does anyone think there will be any availability at all? I'm sure we'd have no problem getting a room at Disneyland Hotel but with the lack of concierge for points, we'd rather have the space in a 1 bedroom.

I called on the morning of the 7 month window last summer for 2 nights in a studio the beginning of President's Day weekend. No problemo.

But called this week for availability in June, July, or August- NOPE! 2 nights in July were all that were available. I wouldn't ordinarily plan that close to a trip- but a friend is going to book the buy 3/get 2 free deal at DLR this summer and wants us to join them.

So yeah, I'm starting to rethink my I-don't-need-specifically-VGC-points plans!!

I booked for this May, 7 months out, with no problem. However I tried to make some changes today, and nothing was available so I am keeping my original reservation. It's getting more popular, so we are also rethinking adding on, just to get the 11 month window.

2 things working against you.

1) VGC continues to sell home resort points on a relatively small resort. If the homers are booking (we're homers), there will be less and less 7 month availability in general - and probably not much at all during peak times.

2) VGC is getting more "known"/popular with FL-DVC owners. So I think the non-home competition will continue to increase.

Morning of 7 month window, secured a 2 BR for Vero during the month of August!

Looks like a very pretty resort!

Will be a nice relaxing vaca after 3 nights at Kidani!!!

Looking forward to it!!!:banana::banana::banana:

In the beginning there was lots of availability 7mos out but I think that is a thing of the past. I am a VGC owner and was surprised at all the availability. Well I made a booking and needed to add a night and found no availability AT ALL in any room, any size for any of the dates over 3 months!

The MS agent I talked to said that she has found no availability for more than 2 days in a row through October! Keeping in mind this is just one MS agent checking specific dates, that is still discouraging IMO.

I think that as time wears on, it will get harder and harder to find anything @ GCV because the trips are shorter than WDW vacations and the availability seems to be a bit more scattered due to that fact. Since we go to DL at least every other year, I didn't want to chance not getting in @ 7 mos which is why we bought.

We purchased an add-on of 100 points last year on a Magic cruise but likely won't stay at VGC except for every other, or every third year. I plan to book my stay for next April though right at the 11 month mark. I had a choice of VGC or BLT at the time but already own at OKW and AKL and live in Orlando so I have much more flexibility here. I have zero flexibility for DL, hence the choice to purchase points at VGC plus we had a really good incentive at the time. I figured it's such a small resort and there's probably pent-up demand from SoCal guests to have a DVC in their area which means much less chance of getting what you want at 7 months out.---Kathy

That is exactly why I added on at VGC 2 weeks ago. There are 1000s of DVC villas in WDW I don't have to worry about not getting a studio somewhere, but for DLR there are just 48 villas in the whole resort. If I don't own a contract at VGC, there is no guarantee to be able to get any room there at all. They said there are over 100,000 dvc members out there, if only 0.05% of them interested in staying in VGC in any particular night, there aren't enough villas for them. So I think it is a good decision to get it there, even if I don't go there too often.

Congratulations on your reservation. While you are kicking back on the Florida coast the rest of this thread will be scrambling for spots in California. ;)
