What is the best kept secret or advice you can give to anyone staying at OKW?

My best kept secret would be to take your chances on which area to stay and see what you get. I so often see people asking for the "best" location, and frankly, I don't think there is one. They are all good! We do have preferences of buildings, but I have found that most locations at OKW have some specific charm to them. Even building 29 (my least favorite) is great if you happen to be on an upper floor or on the right hand side of the building. It's just the road side I don't care for. We only request non-smoking for medical reasons, and I am usually very pleased with every location we have gotten. Sometimes we have gotten buildings that I "think" I wont like, and they turn out to be among my favs! So, I think the thrill is in the adventure of seeing where we get put and what we like about it.

ITA with Diane!

Also, I would suggest taking advantage of all OKW has to offer. Community Hall, Pool activities, bikes, boats, Hank's, etc.

For us, OKW has become where we like to vacation & being close to the parks is a bonus. We don't commando anymore. We get AP's so we don't have to worry about getting the most out of a day on a hopper. We relax & enjoy.

Diane, just from reading your great posts about the South Point Road area prompted us to request that. I'd like to be put in building 55 because I don't really want a view of the golf course but since this will be our first stay at OKW I'm going to take whatever is given to us and go from there. We are so excited about staying at OKW.

Can't wait to see everyone's responses. We are in the middle of ROFR on a resale contract for OKW right now. We stayed there once in 2004 in a one bedroom villa. We had a great time. Our children loved the playground area by the main pool and they STILL talk about the fun boat ride to Downtown Disney.

OKW isn't one of our "homes" but to us it's the most relaxing DVC resorts. Even though we now own AKV, OKW is the epitome of "Hakuna Matata"! :thumbsup2

I agree with that! When we stayed at OKW we were put in South Point, and at first I didn't think I would like it because it was so far from the HH, but we LOVED it! It was so quiet, right next to a bus stop, and a very quick walk to the quiet pool. When the kids wanted to go to the main pool, we just hopped on the bus. We're staying there again in October, and I've made no requests except non-smoking. I'm sure we'll love wherever we are!
