Veteran's Day

We just booked our trip for the week of Veteran's Day 2004. There will be 2 Veterans in my group. Do any of the parks do anything on Veterans Day that we shouldn't miss?
I am new to this site and am so psched to have found it. Thanks! I've already found some great tips.

We were there Veteran's Day, 2001 - right after September 11. Can't remember if they did anything special for veterans, as the whole place was pretty patriotic due to the Twin Towers attacks - loads of american merchandise with Mickey incorporated into it! One of the most emotional memories for us was watching the Electric Water Pageant at the Poly - they had added in huge American flags, which we weren't expecting. Wow!

Our Veteran's Day trip included New Jersey weekend, but I don't think it impacted us much - and the New Jersey folks were a lot of fun! Couldn't believe how many CM's asked us if we were from New Jersey! Us - with the Boston accent!

We were there for Veteran's day 2002. We are returning specifically for Veteran's day this year.

Every day at MK they have a flag lowering ceremony at 5:00 pm. VERY touching, especially after 9/11. On Veteran's Day, they invite veteran's to participate. We did not know this before the previous trip. We were hanging around Main Street waiting for the parade to start when an older cast member asked my husband if he was a vet. When he said yes, he asked him if he'd like to participate in the flag lowering ceremony.

After the ceremony, they said veterans have a standing invitation to return to help in the same manner.

I have a photo from the ceremony in the bedroom. It was a special day. It made me cry & I'm not a vet.

Not a real long ceremony but a good day to see it or participate in it.
