Veterans Day??? HELP!

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forums and would appreciate some advice. I've only been to DL once, several years ago. I made the mistake of going during Spring Break... and said "never again" because of the crowds! Well, I recently booked a trip to DL for November 10 - 14 with my sister and nieces, thinking it would be a nice, SLOW time. Now I'm horrified to realize that Veterans Day is on Nov. 11th! I'm wondering... has anyone gone during this time? Have I DOOMED our vacation? Will the crowds be unbearable? I'm going to feel awful if I've ruined this trip for my nieces because of long lines! This will be their first time!! Any advice or re-assurance would be appreciated.

This date stands out for me because my son's birthday in 11/11. Two years ago--when he turned 3--we took my parents with us and stayed for four nights in a 2 bedroom suite in Grand Ca.

It was more crowded than one would expect, but was not nearly as bad as Thanksgivings we have been there. I don't think you'll have any lines on the 10th, but I'd guess that starting the 11th they will get longer. Just get to the parks early.

I live in San Diego, and most of the district here are taking the 12th as a school holiday also.

My son's birthday is also 11/11! We've went the weekafter that, NO CROWDS!! and also on Veteran's Day weekend AND we're going this Veteran's Day Weekend. It's a 4 day weekend here for us too, so I figure the parks will be packed.

When we went last time over Veteran's Day wknd, it was slow Friday & Saturday but packed Sunday & Monday. It also was raining Friday & Sautrday and in the upper 80's Sunday & Monday, go figure! LOL

This trip, we figure it will be very busy the whole time since it's a 4 day weekend for schools all over the state.

We just plan on doing early into the park, do what we can, switch to DCA and such. Just work around the crowds. As long as my son gets to ride Peter Pan, Pirates & eat at Blue Bayou for his bday he's happy!

Just be prepared for big crowds and make sure you get there at opening. And do the things that you want to do MOST on the 10th!!

If you have any places you are dying to eat at make PS's now!!

When you say that the schools have a four-day weekend, do you mean Thursday thru Sunday (kids go back to school on Monday) or Friday thru Monday (kids go back to school on Tuesday).

I was just wondering bacause we're also going to be there starting on the 14th (Sunday) and I just wanted to know if we should expect heavy crowds on Monday or not.

Now I'm worried too!

I know up here it's Thur-Sun, since Veteran's Day falls on a Thursday.

I wouldn't worry so much about Sunday, you'll have local crowds, but those that are traveling will be making their way home that day.

Also, if you're concerned about the crowds that day why not make that a relaxing day? Build bears at Build a Bear in DTD, eat at Goofy's or Rainforest, explore the Hotels, play games at ESPN Zone, if you have girls check out the new LIbby Liu(sp)shop, get a makeover at Sephora for YOU ! Or head over to DCA which is almost always less crowded, and do things like the Aladdin show, the Animation Building(SUCH a fun place) If you're driving in you could always take a quick drive over to the Disney Outlet! Still lots of fun stuff to do! Don't fret!

My local school district is just taking Thursday off. Friday is a school day.

Crowds might be high during that week.. there is a major convention going on the 10th to 13th for (NAEYC) National Assoc for the Education of Young Children.
Estimated attendance is 25,000.

Expect lots of women (and maybe families if they drag DH along to watch the kiddos at DL).
Thursday the park is to be open until 11 pm..wheich means DL is expecting crowds.
