Usually I'm the one responding to these posts, but tonight I need some advice from the Disers.

My 2 yr old cat has been vomiting a lot today [about 9 times total]. This cat has NEVER vomited that I know of- so to vomit this much is very unusual. The vomit is liquid/watery, or foamy. There is no blood, or food within it.

The cat is not lethargic, is eating and drinking, and is not dehydrated [moist pink gums, and skin does pass puff tent test-pinching neck, skin doesn't stay puffed up]

I called 2 emergency vets in my area and both said I should bring her in ASAP......I have no problems taking her to the vet if really necessary- though I would rather take her to my normal vet in the AM, rather than rush her to an emergency vet and not only spend the rest of the night there, but also have a multi-hundred dollar bill.

So what do you all think? Should I take her to the emergency vet tonight and play it safe? Or should I wait until morning and call my regular vet for an apt?

It most likely is like bile- or is bile... I would hate to say- not go to an emegency vet... and have something happen

But, I would wait till morning... my cats have always coughed up stuff like this. They always end up fine.... I have never taken them for this.. however, since it has been many times.. you may want to tomorrow.

That is my opinion.

If it had just been once or twice I wouldn't be at all concerned. My cats tend to throw up foam or liquid when they are trying to throw up a hairball. The fact that it's been going on so long is more concerning to me.

There are so many things that it could be. . . once when my cat wouldn't stop vomiting it turned out to be a blockage caused by a hairball. The vet had us give him some flavored petroleum jelly and he was fine after that. That happened a couple more times. Another time, he was in kidney failure and even though we did everything we could he died a week later. With both of those, he threw up immediately after eating and it was mostly food. I don't know what would cause a cat to throw up so much liquid/foam while keeping the food down.

All that is basically a long winded way of saying I don't know what you should do. It could be no big deal or it could be really serious. If he's otherwise acting normal I would think that he wasn't in any immediate danger, and should be okay until in the morning. I think I would probably wait till morning if it was my cat since he's still drinking, unless he suddenly seems to take a turn for the worse. But - if he starts acting lethargic or seems "wobbly" and uncoordinated, then you need to get him to a vet ASAP.

Thank you both for your opinions.....I think my DH is going to stay up late with her, and wake me if there is any change- he has a late shift tomorrow and can do that- I have a class at 8 am. If there is any change i'll take her in asap......but I will be calling the vet in the AM.......my poor baby.....I feel so bad for her. It's times like this I wish I could understand her.:guilty:

OP here.....Rajah spent the day at the vet today getting fluids/bloodwork. All her levels are normal and right now vet is thinking its just an upset tummy. She's been placed on a boiled chicken diet and given some anti spasmodic pills to settle her tummy. Hopefully this will solve the problem and my baby girl will be better. So far no puking today.Thank you to all who helped.
