Very very happy and very very sad....

Well as most of you know we are having a Disney Fairytale wedding.
Last Oct 31st was to be our wedding date but we had gotten into a head on collision in the previous March? , I can't remember, and had to postpone the date to this Halloween because the car accident wiped out our wedding $$.
We are fine. Well, here we are just about 3 months to our wedding day and low and behold we have to reschedule AGAIN.. That makes me very very very very very very sad. But, it is because Dfi has a huge career opportunity that has fallen into his lap that will financially change our lives for the very very better.He will be away when our wedding was supposed to happen and there is no way around it. I have so many mixed emotions because I am very very happy for him , he works so hard and deserves this opportunity. But I am so sad because we have to change the date AGAIN. Well, 3rd times a charm right?
So,our new wedding date is April 24th 2010. I just feel like I won the lottery but was told that Ill have a cold for the rest of my life. KWIM?
But I just keep trying to think of the positive and the future. And when we FINALLY walk down the isle, I'll have absolutely everything done that needs to be done for this freekin' wedding way before it gets here , since everything is almost done now.
Well, thats the update. all I can say is hooray and boo hoo all at the same time.

I know you had already met with your planner, etc. Does this mean you have to lose deposits, etc?? And what about the reception? Now that Mickey's TOT won't be going on, do you have an alternate plan??

I'm sorry you have to put off your wedding again. But I promise it will be worth the wait! I had a DFTW, too, and if I had been forced to wait 10 years to have it, I would have! It is worth it in every possible way!

In the mean time, make sure to do small wedding-ish things to help you feel like you're still planning and keep things feeling special. Do an extra little wedding craft, look for "must have" photos to give to your photographer, or do your makeup and snap photos to see what looks best!

I can TOTALLY unerstand not wanting to postpone --- again. However, if your DFi has an incredible job opportunity, especially in the current economy, what a GREAT thing for the 2 of you and your future together.

My first thought was about fees and re-booking vendors, etc..., but if that is not even going to be an issue, YAY for you in that area too!

I'd say you have a win-win (with a great deal of patience needed).

I kinda know the feeling, though our reasons for changing dates were not as happy.

Are you going to change things up from what you'd planned? For instance, when we were having our wedding Sept '02, it was going to be with deep reds, brocade things...really asian-wedding in feel (since, of course, hubby is half Korean). But when we switched it up and postponed for almost a year, the wedding fell in mid-August (the only time our vendors were all available and we loved our vendors), and deep reds didn't feel right. PLus I had come to understand how very little help my MIL was going to be (she had a no big deal wedding, and her nieces and nephews are all very Americanized and had white-gown tuxedo American weddings in Seoul) and she refused to help me get a hanbok etc, so we just switched it all to summery stuff and nothing really cultural except during the vows.

That certainly kept me busy, once we started re-planning (after we got re-engaged, after we started dating again).

Be sure to try to do something in honor of the October date, even though he'll be away (hey, can you go with him?).

I am sad for you that you have to postpone, but if you had to pick a new date, April 24 is a wonderful alternative!

Next April 24, when you are walking down the aisle, will be the 18th anniversary for DH and I. We wish you many years of wedded bliss as we have had!

To be honest, I am SO GLAD I got married in April. And it was PERFECT at Disneyland. We didn't get married there but we honeymooned. We were married on the 23rd. And you usually just miss spring break!

It'll happen! This is sooo for the good. I'm quite jealous, as your ducks may be in a perfect row (our ducks are still all over the pond LOL).

Now you can plan even more little details you hadn't thought about before..and get even more excited

I will be with Dfi on the Oct 31st date later in the day and evening but I dont know if we will make it to MTOTP . But what ever we do we will make sure that we do something special , even if its just a bottle of Champagne and a toast and a dance.
We will be changing the colors too. all fall colors wouldnt make sense. I dont know what too yet, right now Im feeling lots of blues and golds like royal colors but variations so as not to be too dark.
All right, back to work!!

Well, instead of making my dress, I guess Ill try to decide what we will be for Halloween this year. Im trying to convince Dfi that going to MTOTP is still a good idea even though he'll be working all that day/ week/ month... I think I need for us to go so that we can still celebrate the day. Aww!! I'm so sorry you have to reschedule for a second time! That really sucks, but at the same time, at least you two have most things figured out already right? So the planning part is taken care of for the most part! All you need to do is relax, be patient (both of which I know won't be easy) and enjoy the opportunity he has in front of him!

I'm also having a DFTW! Just a few weeks after your new date! Where are you guys having yours??
