Very strict resort car security at the resorts closest to magic kingdom.

This was the part I was responding to, they'd ask before people got on the DME bus at the DME podium rather than when the bus full of people pulled up to the resort. Like the park buses, the DME buses don't even stop at the resort entry kiosks.

For me the inconvenience is digging out the MB, as I don't wear one until I get to Disney & the DME podium is the first time I need it. When I travel I keep my ID handy (DL or passport) until I reach my hotel or ship. For the average traveler who's already presented their ID to TSA it probably wouldn't be a big deal, for some, like you, I suppose, it would be a hassle.
At Disney sometimes I'll need my ID to check in to my resort. If I'm activating an AP I'll need to show ID. I may be asked to show ID at an airport restaurant or shop if I pay with one of my credit cards, so it's just not that hard to do for me.

I got into the very bad habit of not carrying a purse or pocketbook so I don't carry ID because while a phone is easy enough to not lose - a paper thin ID i sadly dont have a similar experience with. Lol

Shades of Green has always been that way because it's a military resort and it's what people expect. Walking to the Poly from the TTC is very, very easy. It's almost as close as a lot of the Poly parking lot is. We've always walked from SOG to the Poly and the TTC.

Yes, security is tight at SOG, they have always been big on ID checks. Very happy to hear about the Disney resort parking policy!

We stayed at YC club level in early May. We have stayed there probably 30 times in the last 20 years. We were just there in December too. We always take a towne car service. Until about 10 yeas ago, the guard would just ask if we were checking in & wave us thru. For about the last 10 years, they have checked the list. I had to show my ID to the guard for the first time ever in May. I was surprised but this was just after they changed the security screening process at the parks, so I just assumed it was another heightened security measure. I am fine with added security.

For parking? We had no problems with drop offs at any resorts all week, MK or Epcot. Even when they had restricted parking signs out. Drop offs were no problem

I am totes fine with this. I actually wish they could have a dedicated lot for the onsite guests.

So, there isn't a problem if you're staying at BWI & taking a taxi to CR to eat at the Wave or Contempo Cafe, right? We have a tour at 8am in MK. We have to be there no later than 7:45am. We were thinking of taking a cab to CR, grabbing something from Contempo Cafe & walking to MK.
This is the information I am also looking for. We are going on the tour at MK at 8am. We want to uber from AKL to CR before the tour. We actually have brunch ADRs after the tour so we technically have reservations but not until after the tour. We will uber back to AKl after brunch.

I for one am glad.

A couple of years ago, we stayed at Beach Club. It took us forever to find a spot. My husband ended up dropping us off, then circled the parking lot looking for a spot.
Late Aug. 2016 (low park crowd days) - for the entire 10 days we stayed at BC - we rarely found even a single HP parking spot at BC if we returned during prime Epcot hours (say, 11am to 3pm). The very few regular spots available were far away. But, magically as Epcot empties out, many spots open up. Very annoying, especially considering the only ADR restaurant they have open for lunch (IIRC) has tiny capacity (Beach & Cream). Clearly people are parking for Epcot. (We can't valet for reasons not worth explaining.)

2 different experiences to report.

I went a resort yesterday to meet up with @Missyrose My husband barely had to show anything. They just checked that the guests we were visiting were on their list.

But her husband, one the times they returned back to their resort had to show ID despite having parking paper in window and magic band.

Is there a spot outside the CR where uber drivers are allowed to drop off people who wish to Uber and then walk to the MK?
Yes, I believe so. Just like any dropoff. Maybe that is what they are trying to cut down on?
No, the Guest drop-off for MK is TTC. If your driver is dropping you off along the road in front of the CR, he is doing so against Disney policy.

I get the need for security and extra precaution but if booked through Disney DME vs sedan service should be one in the same as I can't imagine them asking the bus driver and bus load of passengers for ID.
Buses are let through security gates with no stopping. Cars (whether through Disney or not) need to stop.

I wonder if Disney's announced Uber like service will be able to by-pass some of this making it a more efficient service.

And this I don't understand - Disney now offers "airport transfer servuces" via private sedan or SUV. Don't offer it then if they don't feel it's secure or if it warrants a stop and ID check

Right but if you ask to get dropped off at the CR where will they drop you?

If you asked to get dropped off at CR, you'll be dropped off at CR. If you're really just going to the MK and using CR for a shorter drop off point, you can often get your cab/uber to let you off right past the guardhouse to save you a few steps. At least that has traditionally been the case, barring the extra scrutiny described in the OP's post.

Really? DD and I were offsite last summer and used Mears taxis to take us to/from the MK and EPCOT. we had them pick us up and drop us off at the CR lobby. Not sure how they'd be able to tell us apart from a CR guest?

Is there a DIS board thread for this? If so can you please include the link? Thank you:flower1:

We did this exact thing and had no problem but it was before the incident at MCO.

We did the 8:30am KTTK tour on May 25; we took a cab from Beach Club to the Contemporary (dropped off at resort front entrance), had breakfast at Contempo Cafe, and walked to MK.
