Very spacious 2-bedroom villas that sleep 4 adults & 3 kids?

Next month the RCI Points resorts for the period we want next year will get deposited and become available for exchange, so I'm making my short list.

We will be 2 adult couples who are close (us and my parents) plus our 3 kids. We all want to stay in one unit so that it's easy for them to babysit at night after the kids are asleep and DH and I want to go out.

We are of course looking at 3 bedroom. But, in the event that none become available at the resorts we like, can anyone recommend a resort where the 2 bedrooms are large enough or configured well enough for all 7 of us? I am mainly hoping for the 2 adult couples to have their own rooms, and the kids could have the living room. Best configuration would be 2 1-bedroom units combined, so that there's one living room for the kids to sleep and one living room to use as a living room.

I have been looking around at resorts with 3-bedrooms such as Cypress Pointe, the 2 HGVC, Grand Beach, Silver Lake. But going down to 2 bedroom will get us resorts like Vistana Villages, The Fountains etc. I am not interested in OLCC b/c of its sheer size and risk of getting an old unit. Also, Vistana Resort doesn't appeal for 2-bedrooms, b/c it seems like a risk as well of getting an old unit. Can anyone advise whether there is a way of getting one of the bigger 2-bedroom units at Vistana (like the bigger lockoff ones) via an RCI exchange?

I would say Vacation Village Parkway as it's 2 one bedroom units together.

Orange lake has large 2 bedrooms too. We stayed there 2 years ago. It was nice. There's one starts with Silver something it was very nice.

I like the West Village at OLCC (original units) as the living room area is bigger, the balcony runs the entire width of the unit, and the second bathroom has a tub rather than a shower. The newer units have a larger master bedroom and bath with an oversized jacuzzi. Some people don't like the older units simply because they are older units (I've heard one person say they only stay in new timeshares - their option). Vistana Resorts also has older units and like OLCC, some people don't like those either. I also note that the OP didn't want to stay in either resort as the OP was concerned about getting an older unit and the size of the resort. I think we should respect that wish by suggesting other resorts.

I also own at Vacation Village @ Parkway (VVP) and I don't normally recommend using the 2-bedroom unit. The 2-bedroom units do have plenty of room. I recommend staying in the Suite-A 1-bedroom units. Many times a unit will be a lockoff with the lockoff a studio (hotel) unit. VVP splits its 2-bedroom unit into 2 1-bedroom units with the A-unit being recommended as it may have a washer/dryer, dishwasher, stove, etc (note if you get the original building 1, you might not have the washer/dryer and the jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom) while the B-unit doesn't have the washer/dryers, dishwasher, and instead of a stove, you have a hotplate. Still, the combined size of both units is about 1500 sq ft. My problem with the 2-bedroom is that to get the 2 1-bedroom units, it splits the living room in half and you have to exit one unit to enter the other unit. This is not a good working arrangement for me but it may be okay for others as long as they are aware of it. I prefer to have a 2-bedroom unit with a larger living room area rather than 2 smaller living room areas.

But based on the OP desire to have 2 separate living rooms, VVP might be a workable solution for their desires. As there are two separate units, one couple can use the A-unit and the other the B-unit and have their own privacy as well. It sounds like a workable solution in this situation.

Grand Beach has 3 bedrooms so that would work really well for you.

The two HGVC's are big.. a 2 bedroom will be a lock off studio apt and a one bed apartment.. so plenty of space etc but the kids would be in the living room area..
The other disadvantage to most of these places is that the kitchen and the living room are combined and therefore, you might wake kids up once asleep if you want to cook something. Also the external door opens onto the living area..

The older units at Vistana are much bigger than the new lockoff ones..
but they arent nice inside.
The new ones are pretty small. Some of the smallest lock offs Ive seen actually.

Thanks for the suggestions so far! My main concern about Orange Lake was size - we would be overwhelmed by a resort where we might have to drive to the pool! Yes the older unit risk is a factor - not that we mind old, just old and run down. I hate having to contact the front desk all the time to get multiple things fixed, or to get moved etc. I'm just looking for as hassle free as possible really.

I am shooting for a 3 bedroom, and I know which resorts I want. It's just if I can't get a 3 bedroom at those I will search for 2 bedrooms, and I just wondered how to rank those.

Question about Vacation Village: is there a main outside door that encloses both Suite A and B so that you can leave the individual doors to the suites open? i.e. if the kids are sleeping in Suite A and my parents in Suite B, can both suites be secured so that there are open doors between my parents and the kids? Or would my parents have to come over into the kids' suite to be able to keep an eye on them?

There is an outside door and each individual unit also has a door (3 doors with locks). You can have the individual unit's doors open and the outside door locked.

Oh, the 3-bedroom units at OLCC are in the newer areas only (Tennis Villas, East- and North Village).

Some units at the Westgate Vacation VIlla's offer two bedroom and a loft. Two people can sleep up in the loft, some down on the sofa bed and then there are the two bedrooms. These units appear big because they have the high celings due to the loft. Great location and lots of space.

I've stayed at Vistana Resort, Summer Bay, and Orange Lake 2-bedroom resorts through RCI and any of those could meet your needs...

but they arent nice inside.
The new ones are pretty small. Some of the smallest lock offs Ive seen actually.

The one we had was SO dark and not very clean. It ruined the two weeks we had there to be honest - and the front desk would not move us despite the fact that the entire resort was completely empty as it was the week after 9/11!
