Also posted this query in the Transportation Board, but it isn't really Disney-parks related so also want to post this here on the heavily-trafficked CB.

*******

Have to go from DC area to any of the San Fran airports for a family-wedding the weekend of September 17-20. Any of the three Baltimore/DC airports are fine, either San Fran or San Jose are fine. DD & I want to go out September 17, she'd like to visit some of the area colleges (like Stanford, etc) on Friday. DH would come out Friday afternoon/evening. We would all come back anytime Sunday (yeah, I wish we could all stay longer, but high school & AP classes for DD plus DH's work are interfering with that idea.)

Helllllllllllp.

We like Southwest in case we have to change flights, but I am rather more fond of non-stops, don't seem to be any available on Southwest.

Thanks for any help, advice, tips, hints.

An early bump for the late-afternoon crew. Anyone with *any* airfare ideas please post them here.

Thanks,
agnes!

Have you checked out Virgin America? They have a non-stop from IAD to SFO, and the prices are usually pretty good. Plus it's a REALLY fun airline to fly.

Also, I like to use www.sidestep.com to check out different options. Southwest isn't included on it, but most other airlines are.

Also, OAK is not a bad airport to use, and rental cars are usually cheaper there than SFO or SJC. It's also pretty convienent. Don't be afraid about it being Oakland! Anyway, keep it as an option.

I agree with Virgin America. They are our favorite airline.
We used to live near Dulles Airport until last year and now we live in LA so btw my mom and I we have flown them 7 times in the past 2 years.

We are flying southwest LAX-IAD in december but we are flying Virgin America IAD-LAX

I second flying into OAK. You and DD could check out UC Berkeley, then go back and pick up DH. Stanford is closer to SJO. Any of those 3 airports would work for you.

Now should be a good time to find airfare for a Sept. (non-Labor Day) weekend.

Good luck.

Saw some decent fares on VA, wanted to get them, DH was kinda "eh" so didn't...ouch, the one leg has now jumped by $130+ :furious: !

phooey.
