I am going on the Wish for a Very Merry Christmas Cruise after Thanksgiving. Other than decorations, what is different about the Christmas cruises? Also, can you still do the 5K on Castaway Cay?

There are some themed activities and Santa Claus is onboard.
Yes, you can do the 5K, but it is still informal, so you run on your own and pick up the medal when you finish.

This was pre-COVID so not sure what would apply/not apply.

Very Merrytime is SO much fun...lots of activities from making ornaments to decorating gingerbread cookies. Tree lighting ceremony in the atrium with the characters and Christmas carols, Winter Wonderland Ball with Santa, Mrs. Claus and snow in the atrium. The ship is beautifully decorated with a huge tree and gingerbread house. Characters are decked out in their holiday finest. Families getting their photos taken in ugly Christmas sweaters and/or Christmas pajamas. It's a week long celebration (or 3-4-5 days on the Wish?)!

Also you can order special holiday decorations that will be in your room when you arrive - and also a special Christmas blanket and pillow to take home.

If you can, spend a day at WDW for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and another day at Epcot for the Candlelight Processional. The parks are also wonderfully decorated for Christmas.

I just did the 5k in August and they were no longer giving out medals. :(. No idea if that's temporary or permanent

No medals at all? Not even getting them on your own at guest services? That is disappointing.

I hope we will still do these! This was 2019!

I can’t wait to do a Christmas cruise again! We will do Dream in December!!

I assume (dangerous, i know!) that the blanket/pillow set would be in the onboard gifts? I am booked in December but do not see anything holiday themed in the gifts available :(

I know in 2019 they were added to the onboard gifts website on August 30 (I was that weirdo who checked every day for my Nov cruise). So maybe keep checking and they might add it in the next week or so.

I’ve heard mixed things that the 5K was no more or that they were just waiting on new medals…
They are still doing the $$$ marathon weekend challenge though

We got the free normal CC5K medals on our Fantasy cruise last week. We were on CC on 8/26. They had plenty and didn’t make it sound like anything was changing with them. We got ours no problem. Like everything with Disney YMMV lol.

Yes, in the onboard gifts. I'm wondering if they'll have them this year. We're on a Halloween cruise in about a month and they don't even have any Halloween decorations available, much less the blanket.

Good to know as there was a thread on here about it possibly discontinued

For BOTH! neither one is showing up for us to purchase but both are available if you call (or wait on tech to fix it)
Thanks! I'm not seeing anything either for December Merrytime. Unsure if I'll have time to call to even ask what's available but will try to email to ask about tech.

I'm also doing a 4 night Christmas cruise and have been checking almost every day too. Everything I'm interested in says available until December 9th and we're sailing December 12th.
