Very LOW Rates for CHRISTMAS & NEW YEARS with AMEX: MCO, Car Care, Dolphin

I just wanted to let people know about a combination I stumbled across yesterday while poking around rental rates.

The prices all seem to be about the same between the Car Care Center, MCO and the Dolphin:

Standard Car (select Compact, double upgade to Standard): $145 per week, all taxes included.

Full Size Car (select Intermediate, double upgrade to Full): $160 per week, all taxes included.

I think if size is an issue and you don't trust the double upgrade coupon, I would book the Intermediate. BUT ... the upgraded car class shows on your confirmation .

Thanks Robin! I was able to stack the coupons too. $144 for a Chevy Monte Carlo for the week instead of the EA Pontiac G6 for $160. Not much but it will help pay for gas! 9-1/2 more days - I can hardly wait !!

I was able to do it if I added the double upgrade coupon first and then add the 40 off.

Did you make your reservation trough your Emerald Club login? My guess is that you could still use the Emerald Aisle with this reservation too. I'm picking up my car at the Dolphin so I didn't worry about EA. I still made my reservation through my EC login, though.

BTW, I changed my mind about size (standard v/s full) because I think that National might disqualify the upgrade coupon based on the wording on the coupon. Our family could fit in a compact car, but would be happier in a intermediate should they choose not to accept the coupon. I tried to cancel the compact/standard online and it wouldn't let me. So ... I had to call National and they cancelled it for me.

So ... I guess what I'm saying is that the system accepts stacking but I am not 100% sure that they will honor it. Make sure to rent a car that will fit your family and consider the double upgrade gravy.

Our family is going down on the 20th to DW but then leaving DW on the 29th (taking ME) and staying till Jan3rd. I had found a rate with Thifty for 177. a week but now with National got a compact for 89.! I also got a car for my son and his family an full size for 124.! this works out so great for us as we don't have to leave the airport. here's the catch I DON'T HAVE AN AMEX CARD BUT MY SON DOES. I just could't pass this up. do you think they would take my son's card if worst comes to worst we are bot EA members? I didn't cancel my Thifty ressie yet until I hear from you guys. let me know please..Marianne

this is where i got the rate 40 coupon and the amex code..marianne ps did not use the upgrade coupon dates are 12/29-1/3

I wasn't either. I wonder if the dates make a difference. I got a message that said "You can't use coupon 1 with Coupon 2" or something to that effect.

try reversing the coupon, it worked, out the down upgrade first and then add the 40 off, let us know

I just don't know if they'll accept your son's AMEX card for the rate. Will he be travelling with you and picking up the car at the same time?

Has anyone recently rented with this code and coupon? I want to know if they were asked to show their AMEX Card. I just called National with my reservation number and was told that I did not have to show the card or the coupon to get the rate.

I just tried to pull mine up and got the same error message. I called National and, to make a long story short, they will not honor the two coupons stacked in the same reservation. It is either one or the other. I went ahead and canceled mine and rebooked what I originally had with just the Am Ex code and the $40 off coupon for an EA intermediate.

the amex code is a variable rate.....22.99 per dayfor intermediate.....but it looks like they have not contracted for the same rate next year....try using the amex code for a booking in late january it comes back .....REAL high

we just used it this week .....they did not ask to see our AMEX card

looks like the coupon glitch was back for a short time......

when they first added the multiple coupon slots on the nationa web site.....

some were putting in the code for 20$ and then putting in the number of say 5 of those coupons.....which in essence gave 100$ the rate.....but national did not honour more than one coupon


the website usually catches "coupon conflicts"

I just wanted to let everyone know that I had no problems picking up my car at the Dolphin. In fact, they upgraded me past the Full Size car on my reservation (I paid for an Intermediate) to a Toyota RAV-4. The employee at the counter didn't say a word to me.
