Just priced out our July 19th Western Cruise again on the DCL site. The price for DW, myself, and 13 yo DSD, excluding transfers and vacation protection, is now $4546.31 for our category 11 room. That works out to $9.24 per point for the 492 points we expended. Now, I know that I am not talking about our original 11 month price, or about an even better early booking discount, but for someone booking today the point price is not too bad! (Made me feel good at least, LOL!)

Your going to have a great time on the cruise- and even better to have saved a few $$$. :D :D

We booked for value season (may) in a cat 8 and feel we received very good value for our points. DH probably would not have ventured into cruising if it had not been for DVC. :D Enjoy your cruise!!!

So, using DVC points for a cruise is the best value when you wait until the 'last' minute. Assuming that the date is still available.

This begs the question, why can't DVC members get an early booking discount? We have more invested into Disney than the typical vacationer. Shouldn't we be offered a similar discount program? Say a reduction of the points required (from the listed points cost) the sooner that the cruise is booked.

Seems fair to me. Opinions?

I think the problem lies in with early booking on points..... having to wait for the 11 month window may not be as early as a cash booking and also by the time DCL renegotiates the contract with DVC, the negotiations are already in to a few months of a new year. EX: 2004 points chart just became available last week.
Check out a topic I *started* titled "Is this a no brainer?" I learned alot from it.
