We have been going to the tequila bat since it opened and it easily became our FAVORITE place to go. During the Princess half I led 9 of us to the bar with stories of crab tostadas, bloody Mary shrimp shots, homemade margaritas, etc. Unfortunately it's all gone... They only have chips with cheese, guacamole, and chipotle salsa and the classic margarita is no longer fresh it is made from a mix. After we received our first round I talked to the waiter and he said at we had to order a different margarita now but it still wasn't the same. I love it when they were served with e extra in the metal carafe on ice.

Disney PLEASE bring it back to the way it was instead of this processed nonsense.

Well that stinks! My DH and I really enjoyed the margaritas and the tostadas there. So, the crab tostadas etc were off the menu?

Disney if you are reading this PLEASE return the tequila bar back to the way it was.

1) Things change, including cheaper mixes.
. . . mixes are less labor intensive then prep at the bar
. . . some mixes are cheaper than others
. . . same thing happened at the stand on the sidewalk
. . . sidecars (extra booze in containers on ice) means more alcohol
. . . eliminating sidecars saves booze and booze cost
2) It is still a very popular place, so cutting costs equal more profit.
3) Plus, they make more profit on booze than food.
4) Thus, cutting food to chips/dip makes for better turnover.
5) Reduces people sitting with only a couple of drinks nursing food.
6) Makes room for more people to come in and grab drinks.
7) Then, they leave, and more come in - over and over again.
8) Some may not like it, but others still do.

So anwer me this question...
I alwys get the Avocado Marguerita. I get severe heartburn from sour mix, and cannot drink "traditional" crap that is served everywhere else...so, you meant to tell me now they are using the standard garbage?????? :scared1:

And rusty, just because things change, does not make it acceptable to some people.
Yes, I am a marguerita snob.

Gone!

Except it's not owned or operated by Disney so they can't change it. It is owned and operated by the same 3rd party company that owns the Mexico restaurants.

We went in January for a DATW trip and were here first thing at 12pm when they opened. Most of us ordered either the Blood Orange or the Wild Passion Fruit margarita. They were horrible compared to what we had remembered the last time we were there. Two people in our group actually took theirs back becuase they were so sweet.

Went back on Saturday, Feb 25th and it was our last stop around the world. Was looking forward to the Avocado Margarita but they were out of avocados. This place has definitely been a disappointment lately.

The metal carafe margarita was the San Angel, not the Classic.

The food was apparently removed because it took too long to serve. Like Rusty says, faster turnover.

It is now. This was confirmed through the waiter. It is also not the same. Also confirmed through the waiter.

I LOVE the Avacado Margarita!!!! Was hoping to get this in June, bummer!

Oh Noes! I LOVE The Ditch! I recommend it to everyone and I too am a huge tequilla/drink snob. I want good booze in my drink, not mixes filled with chemicals. I will pay more for a good drink but not for that. That is the reason I don't get those layered, pre-mixed drinks outside - too sweet and too full of chemicals. Sure I'm sure the booze kills some of them but still.... :rotfl2:

I never had any of the food so I don't miss it but crab tostadas sound amazing! Well at least I can still have shots. They can't make that go away (I hope).

They have a Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/LaCavadelTequila
I suggest you tell them how you feel about your experience.

Done! I got a reply as well.
Here is my post to them

PLEASE tell me the rumor I heard is false...that you have started using the generic garbage for your Margaritas???? And the crab tostados are gone?? If so, you will be losing A LOT of customers....I always look forward to your avocado, cucumber & Jalepeno margueritas, MINUS all of that sour mix garbage that only gives you heartburn! .....I, along with A LOT of others are not happy if this is true. There is a whole thread about it over on Disboards.com

And this is there reply:

La Cava Del Tequila
Lisa, allow us to address your questions. First off, yes, the crab tostadas have been gone from the menu for some time now. You can find our menus here: ***************/xfBS1w. With respect to your other concern, we absolutely HAVE NOT gone generic on our margaritas. There is only one margarita made with sour mix, and that is the Classic. ALL OTHER margaritas are made only with fresh ingredients, including real lime juice. We pride ourselves on using real, fresh ingredients in our cocktails. Thank you for raising our attention to the issue on Disboards. Any assistance you can provide in correcting the false rumors would be appreciated.

So, it looks like the margaritas are still the same :thumbsup2
The tostados, I can deal with...but not the margaritas!! :scared1:
Glad to have cleared that up!

Excellent! Liked their page so I could keep up. Sad on the crab tostatas but there is tons of great food in WS. There is only ONE Ditch! :cool1:

Whew! I was starting to panic! We've been really looking forward to our margaritas during our April trip!

Rusty summed up the approach Disney takes to all drinking and eating establishments. Just one quick example -- the grapefruit cake at Brown Derby used to be baked fresh on site. Now it is baked off-site, shipped frozen and has a horrible outer layering of something that really doesn't even resemble food to keep it fresh longer. As a result, we no longer bother eating at Brown Derby. I could go on and on.

Thanks, Rusty, for confirming what we always knew about Disney management of food and beverage -- more's the pity.
