Not sure if this has been posted, if it has feel free to delete this post Moderators. but its very cool video. The family entered and won a contest put on by Scotch Tape, they were sent to CA for a week where you can see CA as it looked in 1956, Disneyland in particular looks the same in some areas like Main Street and yet so VERY very different in others, it is VERY bare compared to today because it was only 1 year old when filmed and none of the trees and foliage had grown in yet. I Love this little film, it was even sent to the Smithsonian and put in the archives. It was filmed in 1956 but the narration wasn't done until much later. Enjoy !

My husband and I just watched it and really enjoyed comparing the past and present.

It was great to see such classics as the Chicken of the Sea Pirate ship - where they sold tuna sandwiches, the old Autopia - with no track, the old Skyway (whose one remains is the old boarding platform in Fantasyland, and the pack mules and stagecoaches - where Big Thunder now resides. You can actually see the one rock formation that still exists from back then.

It was also fun to see the teacups where Dumbo now sits and how barren the ridge behind the Casey Jr Train is, compared to now. Seeing how the Jungle Cruise has grown up around that Bull Elephant is pretty amazing, too. We also loved how you used to be able to ride on the old firetruck, that is pretty much a permanent fixture in the Fire Station under Walt's Apartment.

Thanks for posting that.

We just watched this last night. It's great. What fantastic footage this family has! I've never been to DLR, but my husband went when he was 19 or so, and says it didn't look too different when he went than in 1956!
