Vero Tax question

We did not own our VB a year ago, and so we paid the dues after the fact to the seller. Can anyone tell me how much of the VB fees per point went to real estate tax?

The property tax - Actual rate was .6554

The property tax - estimate was .6281

I just looked again at the annual dues statement.

The actual property tax is for 2004

The estimated one is for 2005

Bobbi, my friend. Just be careful what you deduct. Since you did not techically pay that tax (the previous owner did), you may have a tough time deducting it on your return. Just thinking that the IRS could argue that the Maint. Fees paid to the previous owner were part of the purchase price. In any case, you will not have a reciept, so it may be tough to claim for the 2004 tax. Of course free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it, so consult your tax professional before doing anything.

Oh, and I'll be at VB in just 9 days (Yay!). I'll report back on conditions when I am back.

Thank you as well, my dear friend!!! It's truly a friend who keeps me out of tax court, or audit or whatever it's called. Especially for the pittance, we only own 150 points.

I've passed the info to DH, and I'll use an eagle eye when going over the form.
