We were lucky enough to call last week and get a OVR at Vero for Dec. 27th - Jan. 2. My question is about the weather. Is it warm enough to swim generally? No point in going if we can't swim. Not interested in swimming in the ocean, but the pool. Also, do they have special events for this time frame? I was a little suprised that a room was available at this time. Wonder why??

Hi!!! Average temperature for Vero Beach in late December / early January is 53 as a low and 75 as the high. I was there in February and the ocean was cold....but the pool was heated and comfortable. It's the ocean wind that will give you a chill if you walk the beach like we love to do...so be sure to bring sweat shirts/hoodies with you. And while you're there, don't forget to visit Captain Hiram's !! Cool place to eat/drink. Vero is a very laid back resort and soooo relaxing! Have fun!!!

We were there from Dec 29 - Jan 4, 2008. It was the first time in years they had freezing weather with really strong icy wind off the ocean. I had been lucky enough to reserve a beach cottage and we had family come up from Ft. Lauderdale. The weather really put a damper on our fun. We couldn't be outside at all after Dec 31st. They actually had snow in Daytona. Everyone there said this was very unusual for that time of year. It was so disappointing, but I'm sure it's not what usually happens. One thing we found out - there is no heating unit in the upstairs part of the beach cottage, where the common areas are. Maintenance had to go to Home Depot and buy space heaters for us. LOL! Be prepared for anything, but enjoy yourselves anyway.
