Vero in December??

We've never been to Vero and we were wondering how the weather is there at the end of December? Is the resort pretty tough to get into during Christmas week?? Can you swim that time of the year?

I really know nothing about Vero- and could appreciate any info any of you could give to me. My grown children would love to be by the beach for a few days (probably Fri and Sat), but only if it will be warm and ok to gop in the water.

I do not think that the ocean in Florida is warm enough in December to comfortably swim. Having gone on a limb, I'll bet that someone comes on and says that well we went and had a great time. We were in VB just last week, and the water wasn't what I consider "warm" but there were (a few) people in it, having a great time. It was very windy and rainy and simply not great beach weather! The air temps weren't warm enough to tempt me into the ocean either. The pool was great if you stayed in the water...

We enjoy VB very very much, but I think you go in the winter to have a different sort of vacation than a beach, swimming one.

PS. I went snorkeling off Key West in December one recent year, and it was tolerable, but again, sort of rough waters, not the calm waters one usually associates with snorkeling.

We live 1 1/2 hours south of Vero and I would say its an iffy month. I have gone 2 times the first week in January and it was fine but the pool was heated and the ocean wasn't an option for me. I guess we get used to the heat. If the weather gets cold it can drop to the 40's and here its a wet cold which makes it worse. That would be my one fear. Dec. is usually when we get a cool snap especially near the 2 to 4th week.THese however are 1 - 3 days. Otherwise Vero is a perfect beach destination. I live in Jupiter which is considered a good beach town but Vero rocks in my book. Have a wonderful time.
