Has anyone been to Vero Beach? Looking to go in January. What can I expect? Thanks

There's a whole VB lovers thread here:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1969415

We were just there in August. Spent 3 n there after a week at BCV. It was very pretty, CM's were very friendly...very relaxing way to end our vacation. It is very quiet. Everything closes up shop by 9:00. They roll up the carpet. Don't know what kind of beach you're used to...it's not a big boardwalk, carnival, shopping type of place like Ocean City or Myrtle or anything like that. No high rises. Very laid back. We will probably go back again one day but I doubt will ever go for a whole week. I think we're good with 3 or 4 nights there just to finish off an active week at the world.

We were there a few years ago, January might be a little cold to enjoy the beach or even the pool. Things close pretty early in October, so I can't say what Jan will be like, if your looking for relaxation your going to the right place. The DVC resort is great, CM were nice and the area was spotless, resturants were good and the bar was fun. There are some nice places to eat in the area, my favoite is squid lips, not fancy just fun and the food is good for the money, not gourmet. Also the beach is in dire need of replenishment all up and down the island. Cocoa Beach is only about an hour up Rt.1. If it sounds like I'm putting it down I'm not we loved it. Just want you to know what ot expect.

Thanks, Me and my wife are looking for a nice three day getaway. We just join DVC in August. Can't wait for our first trip home to BLT in August 2010. Just looking for a nice getaway for the two of us to hold us over :thumbsup2

If it's just the two of you, you might want an ocean view inn room. The rooms in general do not have ocean views but VB is what sold hubby on DVC. Knowing that he could go to the ocean. We loved the laid back style of it. Not sure how it will be in January, we've been in May, Sept and Nov. The year that we went in November the place was decorated for Christmas overnight, it was amazing.

Tentatively planning VB mid April for a few days, then AKV for another 2...

Have never been to Florida mid April, but would imagine that the weather should be pretty nice! Anyone know specifically how the ocean should be at VB then?

Thanks!!!:goodvibes

April is peak time at VB. The weather will be beautiful! I think the waters are still a bit cooler, but definitely swimmable! Of course the pool will be great. The resort will be full, so get your ressie's in early! :goodvibes

My husband and I have visited VB twice in January to celebrate birthdays. On our trips it was plenty warm enough to enjoy the pool and walking the beach. We really enjoy 2-3 night stays in ocean view inn rooms before hitting the hustle and bustle of the parks. The studios are okay, but do not guarantee a decent view and the patio or balcony is very small. The one we had was right by the central air unit for our building so quite noisy and ruined what little view we would have had.
We love our winter stays there - being from Colorado it is a great break!!

My wife and I were there in early January in 2006 and the weather was just perfect. As stated before, the water was pretty chilly but the pool was great. Stayed in an ocean view room with a great view, I would get up early and watch the sunrise from the balcony while my wife slept in. Oh, and if you're a fan of corned beef hash, the restaurant, can't remember the name, makes their own and it's to die for.
