Hi everyone! Just curious about Vero Beach. Any and all info., comments, opinions, etc. would be appreciated. I talked to a CM on the phone today who couldn't tell me how far it was from the parks, if it was on the ocean, etc. Ugghhh....

I will check out the website too, but DISers seem to have the best information!!! :)

Thanks!!!!!

It's on the Atlantic Ocean and is about 120 miles from WDW off I-95.

I can't believe a cm couldn't answer this, Vero is on the ocean. It is a beautiful resort. Its about a 2 hour drive from Disney. I love, love , love  this resort. Its peaceful and the view is to die for.. there is a bar on the second floor (Green cabin room I think) and you can sit outside and have drinks and snacks and take in the view. Hubby and I did this when kids were in the unbirthday party. Great pool also. I do wish there was other dining options in the Vero Beach area. Great place you would never regret it!!! :cloud9:

Sounds great! Is it just for DVC members? Is Vero Beach a heavily populated area? Are there things to do in the area? I'm thinking of maybe 5 days. Even relaxing and swimming would be great! Thanks. :sunny:

There is an outlet mall maybe 7-10 miles south of the resort off 95. They have an inlet nearby that offers some dolphin watch cruises.

The resort itself is beautiful :sunny: The pool is great. They have activities for the kids all day long. They have bikes and a bike trail, you can learn to surf, they have jet skis, a mini (9 hole) golf course right there, Camp fires at night and of course the beach. If you get an ocean view room the view is awesome! The room has a covered balcony and some rooms over look the pool area.

Off the lobby they have a huge covered porch with rocking chairs that overlook a lawn area where you can play football, soccer or croquet.

They also have a character breakfast on Saturday's with Goofy and Max.

The studios, 1 and 2 bedrooms villas are on the sides of the main hotel (which have the inn rooms). they also have the cutest beach cottages that are right on the ocean and have a porch swing on the porch.

In addition, they have tennis courts, I think basketball etc across the street.

Overall, its a nice relaxing resort.

You can rent rooms without being a DVC member at VB too.

Our very 1st stay - We just returned after staying 4 nights in a Inn Room - ocean view. It was great, but the weather was a little cool - 20/30 mph winds - so the balcony was great - a little too windy for just sitting out - but I will tell you - you need to specify that you want an open view - the 1st room they gave me had a closed balcony & sitting down you couldn't see the ocean. But it's still considered ocean view. Also we had to be at the pool at 8am to get pool chairs - people lay their towels down & save rows of seats. Maybe it was that way because of Easter. Very crowded but still fun, fun, fun I loved & can't wait to go back. There's not alot of restaurants close, but a good pizza spot 1 block away. You do need to drive 15 min. or so for dinner - the restaurants on site are way over priced (just my opinion).

One tip: take lots of bug spray! The no-see-ums are little ?!?!?!? They seem to love me even though every other kind of pest leaves me alone.

You were there the same time we were. :wave2:

The pool chair thing is affectionately known as 'rope drop'. If you are not there first thing in the morning you will not get chairs. It really bugs me that people will through towels on chairs at 8am and then not come back until 11. :sad2:

It was very windy last week until Thurs which turned into a beautiful weekend. On Sat and Sun the ocean was no calm it looked like glass. I agree that the restaurants are overpriced on site but aren't all Disney restaurants?? We have ventured out into Vero a couple of times for dinner and the desk is great about giving directions.

Regarding the pool chair issue, I was at DVB the last week of March and my family was located next to a mom and her two daughters that had ten, yes ten, chairs that they had coveted. They would rotate to different chairs when the sun would move so they'd get maximum sun. :sunny:

Amazing ... we solve this by pretty much avoiding the pool. We figure we can go to a pool when we're at home, but we don't have an ocean and beach outside our door!!
