We are using our points for the first time in January and have included 4 nights at VB.

Today, we received a letter from DVC informing us about a refurbishment programme which will run from September to early February. The whole exercise seems to involve exterior painting with scaffolding being erected around the buildings.

Has anyone previously stayed at a DVC Resort whilst this sort of work was being carried out? Did it in any way effect the overall enjoyment factor?

We arrive VB on 24 Jan so are hoping that most of the work has been completed. Just interested to learn of others experiences.

I've just got the letter too but the reservation is for my friend (in November) and she has the option to cancel but I doubt she will do.

I've been at the resort when scaffolding was up because they were working on the roof after the hurricanes of a few years ago, and whilst it was obvious, it didn't bother us at all. Most of the time we spent looking out from the building - towards the ocean mainly ;) , or at the pool so it wasn't an issue.

I believe they didn't have people in the rooms which were directly behind the scaffolding but I could be wrong.

Thanks Moira

Interesting to here about the option to cancel included in your (friend's) letter. No mention was made of this in our letter so I reckon the major part of the work will be winding down when we visit. Let's hope.

Don't think we would have cancelled anyway.

Sorry, I misled you :o . I'm pretty sure the letter I received will be the same one you got and my comment about her being able to cancel is just what I intend to tell her when I get around to it. It's still more than 31 days out and the points are from current UY and I would have no problem using them myself in any case ;). If I remember, I'll post an update for you at the end of November :)

Hi there,
We were at VB for the first time in January, and the pool was being refurbished. This was a pain for us, as it was rather cold to be on the beach... but meant that all the other stuff (bike hire, and minigolf etc) was free to everyone.

They were also painting bits while we were there, and this was no problem whatsoever to us.

My only advice would be to check that the pool's not affected!

OOhh - we'll be there one night on November 1 - we've booked a beach view room so I hope we still get one without scaffolding in the way!
