Hello,

My brother is getting married in March of next year and they are going to WDW for their honeymoon. They want to go to Vero for a few days as well. I have a few questions as I have never been there.

1. Where would be the best place to rent a car from? They will fly into MCO (unless there is another airport closer to Vero) and then spend a few nights there before driving to Disney World where they can use ME to get back to the airport when they leave.

2. Will it be hard to book 7 months out? They want the 1 bedroom.

3. Is there anything special you would reccomend for them or anything else I should be aware of?

Thanks!
Tonya

I would just fly to MCO and rent a car there. The drive is about 75 mins from MCO to VB.

March is peak for VB but if you book at the 7 MO window I think you will be ok!

Good luck!

I haven't been there yet, but we have a trip scheduled is a few weeks and here's my experience:

Mom decided in October to come visit me in March 2007 and I decided we would go to VB to use my banked points. We decided she would some down here 3/16 thru 3/20 and we would spend 3 days at VB. Well, I called in late October and I could get the 1 br for Saturday night but not Sunday night. I waitlisted the 1br and made a ressie for an Ocean View Inn room. I found out nearly a month later (when the confirm finally came) that the waitlist went thru and we have the 1 br. She's a night owl (and snores.....) so having the 2 speperate areas was the better option.

Just a little insight as to what you can expect.

MCO is the airport we use when going to VB.. There are lots of rental car options to choose once you get to MCO... You can also fly into West Palm Beach or Melbourne, but MCO seems to be the post popular option.

Out of the 3 airports that you've mentioned, which has the least amount of travel time to VB?

I have done both MCO and PBI, they are approx. 1:15 - 1:30 mins drive time.

Although I have never done Melbourne I have read posts here stating it is approx. 45 mins.

I've never flown in there either, but that time seems right...

I've checked into flying into Melbourne, but never have done it for two reasons...

1) For us, it is more expensive... There are no straight through flights for us going into Melbourne.. Everything has a layover at another airport like MCO or PBI... Add in your layover time, and you pretty much lose the time you gain on driving from MCO...

2) There seems to be more rental car agencies near MCO than Melbourne.. (Though I have never verified this myself..) With more agencies, you get more choices, more competition, and more specials....

Driving from MCO, you will pass Melbourne.. Pretty much all of the drive is all expressway...

There are a bunch of different VB room categories. We are a family of 5, so we'll need a two betdroom and would love ocean view. Is that even possible?

If you request a 2 BR Lockoff your chances are better for an Ocean view than a dedicated 2BR. The dedicated 2 BR's are all towards the parking lots and the 2 BR lockoffs are towards the Ocean.

Ask for a top floor to increase your chances unless you are going Aug 18th through Aug 25th ask for a bottome floor! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I'm trying to decide between a OVI room or a 1 bedroom. To have it be worth the extra points I want the 1 bed to be ocean view. Since the lockoffs are, does that mean the 1 bedrooms have ocean view?
Thanks

Not all of the lock offs are direct Ocean View. If you picture he Villas in a Shape of a U, the bottom end faces the ocean. There are 2 - 2 Bdr Lockoffs at each end of the U per floor. The 1st floor units have NO ocean view. Therefore only 4 rooms per unit (there are 3 units 12, 14 and 15) in total 12 rooms. The other 2 Bdr units will also have some ocean views. Higher the floor the better!

For instance last year I was in a dedicated 2 BR on the 3rd floor in Bldg 15 and had a SPECTACULAR ocean view facing south of the resort, however, the year before I had the same room except on the 2nd floor and had NO view (vegatation blocked it).

It is a little bit of pot luck for Ocean view in the Villas but your cahnces are better with a 1 Bdr.

Hope that wasn't to wordy and clear?:scratchin

Thanks for the reply Mahusky. With only a 33% chance of getting ocean view with a 1 bedroom, I'll stick with the OVR and save the points.

Only on Inn rooms everything else is simply a request not a guarantee.

We just made a ressie for a 1BR @ VB for the first of June. When I requested ocean view, the CM told me that I was not able to request OV in a 1BR. :confused3 I did not argue, but I did not think it was right. Should I call back and see if I can add the request?

I would call back..... I have requested OV for 1 BR in the past. It is nothing more than a request but at least the CM's see that you are requesting it. :confused3

That was weird! Some how double posted 2 hours apart.

Anyway, thanks Mahusky, I will see what they say. It may have been that CM didn't want to deal with it. I was 8:30 pm when I talked to them.
