The issue with LasVegas is that young children cannot loiter with their parents while gaming. They are only allowed to walk through the casino with their parents when traveling to/from your hotel room or a restaurant. A few years ago Vegas tried to rebrand themselves as a 'family' destination and that really never worked out. Prior to covid, it was a great place for adults to gamble, attend shows or eat at all of the various restaurants. Haven't been there since covid started so not sure what else might have changed.
We always rented a car since the casinos are MUCH further apart then they appear and during much of the year it is way too hot to walk a long distance outside. There have always been some unsavory types loitering around on the strip so another good reason to use your car. Last year we went with other friends who wanted to see the older downtown Fremont St. casino areas. Would NEVER go there again, limited offsite places to park, too many homeless begging for money and the casinos downtown are all very tiny.
Even once covid is behind us, if you don't care to gamble & have young children, Vegas is probably not your best choice for a family vacation.
