We are booked for Vero Beach for New Year's Eve. We're waitlisted for any resort on Disney property and have been for months, but I have to assume we'll be staying at Vero. I called to make dining reservations for New Year's Eve and was told only one restaurant will be open and it's a casual restaurant. I can't remember the name of it. They told me the other restaurant (Sonya's?) will not be open on NYE since it's only open certain days of the week. :confused3 We were hoping for something a little nicer for NYE. Does anyone know of a nice restaurant in the area where we could celebrate NYE or has anyone been to Vero for NYE and tried the restaurant there?
Thanks for any help!!!

I'm very surprised they aren't opening Sonya's that night. That's a night where a lot of people would prefer a more fancy meal.

I guess it's possible that I just need to call back and speak to someone else. I definitely thought they would open it too.

We were there last NYE, and we dined at Shutters. It was not fancy, but it was good, and it was nice not to have to drive anywhere on NYE (especially since the resort is so far out of town). We were ages 21 - 62, so no kiddies along. We were all a little bit dressed up, so that made it seem not so casual. The festivities were out by the pool, and we had to get wrist bands earlier in the day to be admitted, but they were not "sold-out" by any means. There was a DJ by the pool and everyone got hats and horns. The snack bar was open by the pool also. There were lots of families with small children by the pool. At midnight, they did a countdown and lots of people jumped in the pool fully clothed. I didn't, but I took pictures for a few who wanted to "hold on" to that memory. It was a very nice setting, really, and we thoroughly enjoyed our NYE meal and party at the Vero Beach Resort.

I am so glad to have read that!!! NYE will be my 23rd birthday and I was a little bummed to be spending it at Vero rather than Disney. I didn't think it would be as festive. For the wristbands...do you have to pay for those or do you just show your room key or something? Thanks for sharing your experience!!

Does anyone know where I might find a menu for Shutter's?

Had to show the room key to get the wrist bands, but there was no charge. Lots of group dancing (especially children) by the pool with the DJ. Here is a link to Shutters menu, but it is from 2007. http://allears.net/menu/menus.htm#vero If I remember correctly, there were a few "specials" for NYE on the menu.
