We are not DVC members, but have rented points before. We are considering a split stay in May with WDW and Vero Beach. But I can't find any good info. or pictures on Vero. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Renae

What sort of information are you after?

There are pictures of the resort on Disney's own website.

Disney's Vero Beach resort is a little north of the town of Vero Beach, it is at the borders of Vero and the town of Sebastian. You would need a car to best enjoy the area as there isn't much else in walking distance of the resort.

The level of service is excellent and very much in the Disney tradition for it's higher end hotels. The resort itself has some pretty good restaurant options, although like all of Disney restaurants they are a little pricey. The resort is right on the beach, which is accessed by a walkway. It has an excellent pool area with a very nice slide. They have some good entertainment programs for the kids (of all ages) and also run programs like turtle watches for all the family (these need to be requested well in advance, and even then are not guaranteed). The Inn rooms are in the main building which houses the restaurants, bar, reception/check in areas. There are also the regular DVC studios, one bedroom, two bedroom and the stunning beach cottages which are all within walking distance of the main building, I would guess all are less than 100 yards from the main building. The beach cottages have great views out over the ocean. The beach itself is relatively narrow and can drop away sharply so a close eye needs to be kept on younger kids, particularly as they can get some strong tides and rough waves here. There is plenty of scope for long walks along the beach as it goes for many miles south and a decent distance north ( to the Sebastian inlet). There are a number of nature options close by as well as Mel Fisher's treasure museum. Vero Town area has some pretty good restaurants and is about a 10 minute drive from the resort.

IMHO it's a very nice resort for a 3/4 day break tacked on the end of a WDW holiday, I don't think it holds up as well as Hilton Head Island as a holiday destination all on it's own.

Thanks so much for your reply. I had looked at the Disney site, but couldn't find the pictures. I will look again. We had thought about a 4-5 night stay at the end of a 7-8 night stay at WDW. By you description, it sounds great. Lots of activities to keep my 2 DDs (4 and 7) occuppied.

Where can I find a description of a deluxe room? Thanks again, Renae

Just a note to add about the turtle watches - selection is done by lottery- the day of the turtle walk - they post a time to be in the Inn lobby and each family gets to enter their room card into a drawing. They then draw room cards for that evening, and each card drawn can have room occupants up to four people, so if only two in a room, more cards are drawn. Our card was selected and we participated. We enjoyed the lecture by the park ranger but - unfortunately on our visit, no turtles came ashore so we didn't get to walk the beach.

We were able to go to Hawaii and Vero in the same month and consider them both to be equally relaxing (with Vero being MUCH more affordable!) It's a nice chance to relax and just spend time with family/friends, but still have organized activities and family-friendly Disney service. We always try to stay in the inn above the 2nd floor because I think the views are better and the washer/drier are there. Remember to take insect repellant. We have a beach cottage reserved for July (for the 1st time) and can't wait!
