We are considering changing our late October WDW trip to Vero Beach. Has anyone stayed there in late October? How was the weather? Was it pretty crowded? I've been researching the resort, and there is mention of renting putters. Is there a miniture golf course at the resort? Are there gas grills or charcoal grills?
Wishful thinking, I know, but what are the chances of snagging a beach cottage?

I would love to hear about the experience anyone had during this time in the past few years. Our group would be me, DW, DS6, and DD4.

Thanks

We went Oct 15th of last year and the weather was unusually warm ( low 90's) for this time of year. We loved our trip. Very few people at the resort, beach was never crowded.

Is it hard to get a 1 bedroom at the 7 month mark in October? We are planning for our first Vero trip in October as well. We will be a oarty of 3 adults and we enjoy beach vacations. Are there things to do for adults as well as families? Is there much to explore in the area?
Any info would be appreciated. I don't want to Highjack the thread, but I am thinking Vero info would be helpful to the OP as well.
Thanks

No problem getting a one bedroom in October at 7 mos. The area is very residential. Not much to do outside of the resort. A few restaraunts nearby. The beach is the main form of entertainment. No lights on the beach at night due to the turtle hatchings so bring along some movies and board games. :)

I was looking at the point charts for Vero and Hilton Head. October is adventure season at Vero and dream season at Hilton Head. Isn't this opposite of what it should be? I would think the weather would be nicer at Vero during this time. Does it have something to do with the turtles?

we stay at vero beach every year weve done the member cruise. 4 times and next year will be 5. Its not far from port canaveral. Its quiet and relaxing. Reccommend your own car. We have been there both in sept and oct. This year it was sept and it was hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. You might be lucky and it might still be turtle season. I asked if we walked on beach at night would i step on one not realizing they were huge. You cant go on beach at night with lights.

It's because HHI is a seasonal resort. The weather doesn't stay as nice as in Fla. So I guess they jack up the points chart for Oct. That's what makes VB a bargain for Oct.! :)

It is also hurricane season on the Florida coast, that may make Vero Beach less desirable in October

How far is it to the Kennedy Space Center? Would that be a nice day trip?
TIA

We went last October for the first time. We were delighted. Weather was low 80's. Pool was decorated for Halloween. Yes there is miniature golf there. Bike riding too. It takes about as long to get to Publix as it does to get off WDW property. We loved our vacation and went back in February. In October, we could still go in the ocean, but Feb. was a little too cold, but really just as nice. We are staying in the Inn. I would like to try a 1 br or something else, but I can't break away from that ocean view!

We have stayed at Vero in October before and it was warm and wonderful! A great month to visit!

We went down Oct 19? last year. The weather was unusually cold for the FL natives, but warm for us. We had to wear a jacket at night. It was warmer by the time we left. This is not our home resort and we got a great ocean view studio room. The view was absolutely amazing. The pool was warm and there were great activities for our two DDs (8,5). We wished we had stayed longer.

I wonder if that was the week before we went down. They were telling us it was in the 50's the previous week. That was hard to believe sitting in the sunshine by the pool and walking on the beach!
