This is sort of budget related b/c I want to keep my purchase looking nice. On the advice of my fellow DISers, I ordered a hipster for my fall trip. I want to know if anyone has any problems with the colors bleeding if the bag gets wet? Or is it typically the normal colors that bleed like red or deep blues? Also, do you scotchguard your bag?

Thanks!

Do you mean the Vera Bradley Hipster?? I was eyeing one the other day so I am curious to see your replies. I hope the colors don't bleed when the bag gets wet.

I've got lots of Vera bags and have never had any bleed color, even in the washer.

I own a ton of Vera Bradley. In my experience they do not bleed but they do fade. Especially the straps ! Try to hand wash vs machine wash whenever possible.

I always use a Hipster in the parks and have never had a problem with colors bleeding and I take it on water rides, etc. You should be fine!

I have used The Hipster in about 6 different patterns over the years in Disney, and none have had any color bleeding when wet.

I agree they do fade over time, esp if they are washed, but that can be said for any 100% cotton fabric.

Even though the tag that comes with VB purses says to hand wash with a damp clothe I've put my purses through the washer and have never had a problem with the colors bleeding. I don't wash them often... maybe once a year or less for the bags I use most. They seem to wash up fine.

I have an older VB backpack in a red pattern and yes, I was out in the rain and it did bleed on my clothes. I was very sad about that. I loved that backpack and can only use it when there is no possibility of rain.

I own several VB bags and haven't had a problem with bleeding. Some patterns have slightly faded during machine wash though - red and black prints tend to be most prone to fading IMHO.

Love the hipster. Have 2 of them. They are perfect for the parks, shopping, and just walking because you stay hands free. :)

My order arrived today! I'm frightened to say... I loved the bags!

I got the laptop backpack in night and day (50% off) and the saddle up in totally turq (60% off). I also got the hipster in very berry paisley, but I feel absolutely sick that I paid full price for it.

So, here are my thoughts: The laptop bag is really light and it's not too big in my opinion. It looks as though some of the other backpacks are smaller, but I don't think this one is too big to take to the parks. I have four kids, though, one still in diapers. I was disappointed that my 15" laptop would not fit in the bag, but as my DH pointed out, I don't really take my laptop out of the house. I'm more likely to travel with my i-pad. I'm not 100% sure yet that I will keep the backpack. My DH doesn't know if he's willing to carry it (even though it's not an extremely "girly" print). If he doesn't ever carry it, it would feel weird wearing the hipster and the backpack myself. The backpack felt extremely light though. I packed it up with almost everything I would at the parks. I was probably missing some stuff. I didn't even put anything in the main compartment. I turned the backpack sideways and I put diapers and wipes in the velcro laptop sleeve. On the other side of the divider, I put an extra pair of clothes and a cosmetic case. I still had room, but I liked that it was neat and tidy and easy to access (in our old backpack, the diapers always ended up smashed at the bottom of the bag). I hate that the side pockets are so tiny. It would be awesome if you could put a water bottle in them.

The saddle bag was actually bigger than I thought. I will definitely use it as a purse at some point. I love the pockets under the flap and on the inside. This bag could make a good smaller park bag too. I think I prefer the hipster, though. It looks a bit wide next to the hipster.

The hipster looks like it will be awesome for the parks (as many, many have said on the DIS, which is how I was convinced to buy one). I love that it has a zip in the front and back and pockets on the inside, but it still zips up top. I could fit three size 4 diapers comfortably in the inside main compartment and a plastic travel wipe case, with room to spare. I may return this and wait until I can get one on sale in a color I like. I hate paying full price, but I'm definitely going to have one for my next trip (and for any other time I need a smaller purse).

I need a new diaper bag, and I'm considering the Get Carried Away or the Miller, but they both look really big, and I'm traveling soon and will be able to go to a Vera Bradley store for my returns (if I decide to) and to look at the bags in person.

I was wondering, though, for those of you who have the hipster, does your strap go up and continue over to the other side without twisting? My strap seems to turn sideways and I don't know if it was sewn on wrong - twisted - or if it's meant to twist because you wear it on your hip. Does anyone know what I'm talking about here?

Sorry for the long post, but I hope my "reviews" helped someone out! :wave2: :upsidedow

Get carried away is HUGE!! I have it and use for my Diaper bag/ carry on for the baby on the plan since I can throw so much in it. However it is too big for just day to day use. I do use it for a day outing but, leave it in the car and bring something smaller to go with me. The get carried away is like 2-3 bigger than a normal diaper bag if that helps. I just bought the Go round which i thought was a good size for day to day use. I also have used the Vera tote but, that one doesn't zipper. I have the Hipster and the mini hipster too and haven't had an issues with it.

I agree, Get Carried Away is much too big for a diaper bag. Mine just got delivered on Monday, and I was disappointed when I saw the size. I tend to carry alot of stuff for my 2 year old DD, and this bag is still way too big. I'll probably keep mine, but use it for a beach bag or for weekend getaways. What the website doesn't tell you is that the dimensions listed are the narrowest point. This particular bag gets larger toward the top, so it ends up much larger than the listed dimensions.

I ordered the Go Around Tote yesterday, which I'm hoping will be a more suitable size.
