My high school DD is going on a swim team training trip in July and she wants a Vera Bradley duffle to use as a carry on. She will have a checked suitcase and a large swim backpack that fits under her seat. She usually carries her swim bag as a carry on but she wants another. There seems to be a variety of sizes and I have no clue which might work the best. I'm thinking that it shouldn't be too big since she has the backpack too.

ETA, I'm thinking about getting her the Weekender bag since it slips over the handle of her suitcase.

I have the weekender.. It is set up so it can go over the handle in the suitcase and it's pretty big but fits under the seat too.

I also have the duffle bag but I never use it as a carry on only when I'm driving.

I have a small VB duffel that I use as a carry-on and for weekend trips. On plane trips, it fits under the seat.

I have a trimmed Vera tote that I like to use as a carry on. It is a nice size and has a zipper so everything stays in it. It fits under the seat too.

I also have the Weekender, but it is a larger bag, IMO. It may be too large if her backpack is already big.

I like the Weekender because the strap is long enough to put over the shoulder too whereas the duffle bag strap is not. I can always fit the Weekender under my seat but I also see people pack them so tight they go above.

Another vote for the weekender. I bought my 16yr old one for Christmas last year and she loves it. She travels a lot with it to visit her dad every other weekend to NYC, so it's a workhorse.

I put my duffel bag over my shoulder.

I also have the weekender and love it but it is big. I like it because there is the outside zipper pocket to put stuff that is easily accessible and inside compartments. The weekender is my only carryon and I shove my small purse inside it. I've never had a problem with it fitting under the airline seats, even on a small commuter plane it fits fine.

Thanks everyone! I think that both bags would be OK for her to carry onto the plane since either one of them will fit below the seat and other one in the overhead. I'll have her look at one in person and then order a discounted color from VB.

My dd is going on a trip for school at the end of June and I was hoping she could just do a carry-on instead of lugging her big suitcase. Would a Weekender bag be big enough to hold 5 days worth of teen girl's clothes? There would be nothing bulky, shorts and tanks and a couple summer dresses, plus toiletries.

I have both the Grand Traveler and the Grand Cargo Travel and I actually think I like the Grand Cargo Travel a little better, since it's a little more square.

I have a grand traveler. You can slip it on the handle of a suitcase. I love it. It's really roomy and the straps are comfortable. Just be careful. It becomes heavy very quickly since you can fit so much stuff in it.

I would think so as long as no bulky shoes in there. Some Hallmark stores sell Vera Bradley and you could always buy and test pack and do an easy return if needed.

I like the miller bag.
me too. I have all 3 types, Miller, Weekender and Duffel. I find the Miller the one I use/like the most, then the weekender. I love the duffel too but not as a carry-on. The sport bag looks fun but not very big and I love all the pockets in the Miller. My tablet/case fit perfectly into the larger pockets inside and out. I can even fit my VB hipster purse in it with all my stuff lol.

I would say yes. They really can hold a lot and they are just plain fun lol. I flew from Chicago to Orlando r/t last week and Vera was everywhere! lol

OP~I spray my bags outersides with scotchguard or campers (atkos) silicone water guard. It really helps, I think.
