Venting ................................................

I have never heard about the stocking trick. If you think about it, the stocking will probably catch the lint. The biggest problem is the humidity/moisture released in the drying process, it will rust metal appliances or anything made of metal.

Unfortunately, I know this from personal experience. When we bought our house, the previous owners had the hose venting straight into the garage. By doing this, the body of the washer/dryer was rusted, the garage door (inside), the casing of the ac unit, etc. Not to mention the mess with the lint! So we had to fix the problem by letting it vent outside.:D

Yes, We have vented our dryer with Hose on a couple occasions!! Once when our Heat Pump fuse went out, and we needed the heat until the guy could get here with the new fuse.... And seeing how well that worked, we did it again once, during a really cold dry spell, cause we WANTED some humidity and extra heat in the house!

Of course, this is NOT recommended as the usual mode of operation. And you may notice some increase in lint-dust... But, hey - go for it and break in that new dryer.

PS: The hose will clog up fairly quickly... Need to replace it or clean it out very often.
