Hi all!
I need to vent a bit here.
My husband & I have decided to fly into Ft. Laurderdale to see my grandmother and spend the night there, get up the next day, go and see my husband's grandfather and introduce him to his brand new great grandson.
Then from there, drive to Orlando and visit Mr. Mouse!
I get a call today from DH and he proceeds to tell me that "We should spend a few days with your grandmother"
Now this sends my antenna up beacuse that comment is unusual for my husband who isn't too crazy about my family.
I ask why and he doesn't respond. So I waited. He casually says "Oh wow! Did you know there is a Hard Rock Casino in Ft. Laurderdale?"
AH HA! My husband LOVES to gamble. We are on a really really tight budget for this trip and he's going to Atlantic City at the end of this month with $1,000 that IMHO could be put towards a TON of other stuff.
He wants to leave the baby & I alone with my grandmother and go and gamble on his own the first night in FLA.
I told him if he wins in AC he can gamble a little in FLA. If he doesn't win, he's SOL becuase I'm taking the cushion money and getting my new tattoo with it. (grin)
Why am I feeling so annoyed with him right now? Oh, right...because HE gets to go out all the time and I NEVER get to go out becuase I'm always with the baby...
Even on our vacation, I'm going to be with PJ & he will be gambling...

I'm not touching this issue at all because it can and WILL get ugly on these boards.

I was wondering what kind of tattoo are you thinking about getting? The last tattoo I got was a butterfly on the small of my back about 15 years ago. I have 4 tats in all. :)

LOL,
why would this get ugly? I'm confused? Am I out of line?
I'm having a bluebird with shamrocks and hearts with a banner with my son's name done on my right shoulder!

No, you are not out of line but there is another thread going about a DH who canceled his Disney trip with his DW and family because of money issues. Just different views, not necessarily the ugly business.

Cool tattoos!!!

:smooth:

Is SOL on the DIS abbreviations list? ;)

It's on my list!

As for not going beacuse there isn't enough money? We are GOING and that's not the issue. My husband wants to go almost more than I do!
My problem is the way he wants to handle the little bit of extra cash we might have for the trip...
In the end though, he's going to have to get by my wonderful spry 87 year old Jewish Grandmother. I've told him if he can pry her off the door frame when he tells her where he's going, he's more than welcome to go...though when she's done guilting him about his hobby, he's not going to want to go!

It means poop out of luck

How in the heck do I add a photo to my tag line? I have a Yahoo photo album but it's not letting me add it.
I wanted to show you my Winnie The Pooh Tattoo!

I've learned that those websites will not let you post their links on other sites so what you will have to do is upload your pics to www.imagestation.com and use their link to post a picture into your post. :)

Okay, let's see if this works...

I don't have any pictures of my tattoos...I don't have any colors on mine. Can't stand the pain when they color in it.

DH and I don't smoke, drink, gamble, or get tatoos....these all sound like a waste of money to me but to each his own. As far as being stuck with the baby, get used to it. We have 4 kids and I guess it would make me really mad if DH was out having fun, but he does work all the time, drives a long commute, and travels often for work. I am doing stuff for the kids 24/7, but the years pass quickly. My youngest will be in 1st grade this year so I will have the days to myself for the first time, although I do a lot at both of our schools. Oh well, only 12 more years until I have an empty nest!

As far as I know the only gambling in Ft. Lauderdale is off shore on a gambling cruise. So unless he plans on getting on a boat for the night, he'll be spending time with you and Grammy.

I must say, letting him gamble at AC is more than generous on your part - especially with $1000!!! I would put my foot down and insist that this remain a family vacation like it was originally planned.

I really don't have a problem with his gambling in AC. It's prior to our trip and he works really really hard during the week. He deserves a day off with his friends once in a while. The $1,000 he's taking is money he won and has saved from his last trip to AC in April.
I love being with my son. I'm glad I'm a stay at home mom, but when we are on a family vacation, I'd really like to do stuff as a family and not have him trapise off to a casino so he can spend our vacation funds.
Know what I mean?

I love the Pooh tatoo.

I have one too, but not as cool as that one. Mine is just an uncolored (Classic) Pooh, standing and looking thoughtful...

Very nice!

A little OT, but I have two sons, now 13 and 10. I stayed home with them full time and am just now back to work. When first son was about 2, I told dh I was going away for the weekend with some girlfriends. He asked me if I expected him to "babysit" all weekend. I said, of course not, I expect you to "father" all weekend. I came back and he had a new, great understanding of how hard it is to be a full time parent. Every year from then on I have taken a girl's weekend. They are some of the best times of my life! If your husband gets $1000 to do what he wants and spend time with his friends, you deserve it, too. No one is more important than your child's mother, take good care of her!

Thanks!
I'm here laughing beacuse there is NO WAY my husband would ever watch our son for an hour let alone a weekend.
I try not to forget about me but sometimes it's hard!

Diana I was once in your shoes until my DD was able to wash herself, use the bathroom on her own and make her own bowl of cereal on Saturday mornings. That was the only way DH was going to babysit all day long and that started when she turned five. :) I was only able to do day cruises with my sister in that time frame or all day shopping in NYC. Now that our DD is nine now he really loves to hang out with her more than ever. As your son gets older your DH will want to be with him more and more. :)

Amirah,
I'm seeing this more and more with each passing month. As my son develops a bit of a personality and is turning into a little person, my husband wants to be more involved.
I know he loves his son and he's so proud to be a daddy but sometimes I just wish he would pitch in a little bit more...
