So I am home from our Europe trip, knee reminding me daily of how wonderful it was (the fascination with steps), I will do a little trip report on the weekend (I did go to the Hong Kong Disneyland Shop on a stopover so it is Disney related).

But the best part of December is decorating the house for Christmas which is the first thing on the list tomorrow while DH reduces the weeds and lawn that grew so fast while we were away.

That also means gingerbread baking, it made me think, what do you do when decorating the house and what special treats do you bake and make at this time of the year.

Oh I love the Christmas season, last year we were in Disneyland for Christmas so I am also so excited to see my decorations after 2 years of being packed away, I have almost forgotten what treasures await....

Me, I have two trees to decorate, one for me and one for the children that goes in their playroom and I turn a blind eye to how it ends up. Then there are lights inside the house. Through the next month their are an endless supply of gingerbread biscuits and rum balls to be eaten and a few litres of homemade Baileys to be consumed.

I can't cook, so no special home made treats here unfortunately... :(

However first thing tomorrow morning I'll be on the roof stringing lights, then after I've done my house work the tree and lights that don't require being on the hot hot roof will go up.

I love Christmas... :lovestruc

Then as dusk approaches I'll fine tune the timers that all my lights are set on so they all come on at the same time, and at the right time.

Then I'll spend the next 25 days thinking about what I can buy to add to the display :lmao:

The outside lights will be a next year project me thinks.

We have been in our house for 3 years now, and to start we used our moving around lights but I think it is time we come up with something a bit more customised for the place. It is lovely and long with a great lawn for reindeers me thinks. Me thinks a lot today :rotfl:

Think we will do some driving around this year for inspiration and perhaps get some things at the sales and start lurking on line. DH will be SOOOOO Happy.

My lights outside are up but they're just easy ones, blue icicle lights across the front, a string of multicoloured icicles outside the laundry area and some in the frangipani. The cockatoos light to snip the wires everywhere else we've discovered so a couple of years ago I admitted defeat and stuck to close the house. I'll be making rum balls and found a recipe for pineapple and ginger punch so I might give that a go :). The best thing about the kids being on holidays soon is that they're my kitchen hands when they're in the mood :)

I'm going to be off the Dis tonight. My living room is completely covered with parcels.

I'm up to wrapping presents. ;)

My tree is up; the internal decorations are mostly done. I'm not sure that DH has the apetite to hang the lights outside this year and I'm not going to push it with him. It won't kill us not to have outdoor lights this year.

I suspect that I have enough presents out of my present cupboard to go round. Need to spend some quality time sorting out the mountain and working out my list of who gets what.

Catch you later (I hope).

After work tomorrow I will be getting out the lights and tree and attempting to get it all up. I love the lights, and I also love doing the drive around checking all the displays - some of them are spectacular! Mine - well, less than stellar, but I enjoy it! :santa:
We'll have to get some photos of everyone's trees and lights..!! :cool1:

This year is a bit different for us because we will be away for Christmas. Normally I would've had my decorations up for a few weeks because it takes days and days to do it all. We have 4 trees and the whole house is decorated in side, very beautiful.

We also generally do gingerbread house, gingerbread men, a million Christmasy things. I had hoped to still do some of these things before going but our life is crazy out of control and it just isn't to be.

I've squirrelled away a few of our favourite Christmas storybooks to put in the suitcases and have printed out some christmas word searches etc for the kids to do and we are assuming that 11 nights in WDW and then on to NYC should give us a pretty good taste of Christmas.

I hope :)

Well our tree is up and has been decorated and then undecorated from 4 foot down. For this reason (aka DS3) our presents will not be wrapped and put under the tree. I will wrap them at my mums and leave then there until Chrissy Eve. :(

The tree's are up but no baking, just too hot. Was so much fun discovering treasures since I hadn't put up the tree for two years. The sad part was finding our sweet puppy's Christmas stocking. We haven't had him for 18 months but as we didn't unpack last year I had just forgotten and took me by surprise. Some photos for fun.

I do love me a good Christmas Decoration. I need to buy another tree, have another tree's worth.

Step away from the Christmas department.

Our tree is up too as of today. Just a few finishing touches over the next couple of days but I thought I would add one of our tree and a couple of our new decorations that we just brought home from Disneyland.
