We were getting ready to cruise DCL and then 3 days at Universal. My sis informs me this morning that she's got "things" going on in her life and she has to cancel. I've been planning this trip for a year, doing the research, joining the FE group, getting passports, deciding on FE gifts, making magnets, researching Vibe and Edge with them and picking excursions. We've talked about a cruise for 3 years because her children and my granddaughter are best friends, the very best of friends and my granddaughter cannot conceive of doing something this big and not sharing it with her very best friends. So, after talking about it for 3 years, my sister surprises me last year and says, "Let's do it, let's book it right now". So we booked through DU that day. I've arranged for my granddaughter to miss the school time, arranged through her Pom Pom coach to miss the scheduled games, and everything was set. So now, "things" have come up and no cruise for us! So, trying to make lemonade out of lemons, we're going to take the time and just go to Universal, which is going to be awesome but I just had to rant a little, cause I'm very grumpy right now. :sad2:

So who was the cruise booked under? If you already had everything arranged couldn't you go anyway without them?

We absolutely could but it would be with only one child and she doesn't want to go without her cousins. It's worked out fine because my son and his family decided that they're going to go to Universal with us (he can't cruise/wobbly legs after cruises) for the week. So, I've kicked my car tires repeatedly and banged my head against the wall and now I'm good! More time at Universal! Since I lost my cruise, I'm absolutely going Club Level at RPR, so YAY! I also will be able to do the cruise for Christmas next year, which didn't fit my sis' availability, so I'm good. I think it'll be a while before I talk to my sis though. :headache:

Awwwww. Some people just don't get it. I'm glad you are making the best of things!

Well, consider the plans for a cruise later. My son is an only and he goes on a cruise and makes friends.

I can't even imagine canceling like that!

Our legs are wobbly as well, like your son, after a cruise, it's pretty normal!

Just think how much shorter the lines will be in Universal than on a cruise.

Sorry your cruise got cancelled, but I hope you have a blast at universal.

LOL, in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't really matter, I guess. First world problems and all that. But I have to be the "understanding" sister in the family so I just had to vent somewhere and the forum caught it. It will work out better this way, I think. And I just discovered Discovery Cove so that's a bonus that I never even knew about. I believe I'm way ahead the way it worked out. Thanks for letting me vent!

Bumbershoot, I am rebooking for Christmas time, which is when I wanted to go in the first place, but didn't fit in with my sisters availability.

:goodvibes

that s too bad you had to cancel the cruise. You will have a great time at Universal. Nice that you just found out about Discovery Cove. We did the dolphin swim there and the kids loved it. I even purchased the DVD to remember it.

OP - don't let it get you down. We are big fans of DCL & Discovery Cove which I believe still gives you a choice of Sea World, Aquatica or Busch Gardens tix option. hint: book an early slot after breakfast for your dolphin swim times, allows you to relax and enjoy the rest of your day.

fyi, DCL has such wonderful kids' clubs a 'solo' child usually makes fast friends quickly if they are so inclined. My youngest DS wasn't lol but still always had a great time hanging with us.

Thank you for listening and letting me vent and the support. It was a bad day when she called me but I've done some research and I think the trip we're going to have instead is going to be amazing. Universal 4 days, Discovery Cove (how have I never heard about this?) 2 days and Seaworld 2 days. Throw in some hotel days and just "do whatever we want days" and it's going to be fun.

Thanks! :goodvibes
