Vent: It's cold and I want to go to Disney - too bad I have no money

Its going to be in the 80's in southern cal this weekend. Maybe you should head to Disneyland.

I would love to, but I have no money (maybe I should say, I have no extra money). Florida, I could at least drive to, saving plane fare, but CA is completely out of my budget. Of course we could stay with relatives in Orange County and save some money that way. I love Disney math. :teacher:

Our cheapest trips are when our friends give us Southwest buddy passes and we stay at my parents. We still have plenty of comp passes or friends that can let us in-so no tickets. Just food costs pretty much:) I wanted to go in December but do not really want to pay a lot in air. Probably in the spring for the 40th D23 things going on and maybe the Dream!

Me. Too. I just moved to Wisconsin from Connecticut, and I THOUGHT it would be just as cold, but no--- it's colder! And we're looking at our third snowfall in 8 days! I'm going back to Disney in March (I'm going with my grandparents, which is what I did when I was little, so we're excited), but I don't know if DF and I are going to be able to take a trip together this year.

BUT, at least next year at this time, I will be preparing for my Disney wedding!

We've done several really cheap trips to Disneyland. Being in Arizona its a quick 7 hour drive. One time we had annual passes already and we stayed at inlaws timeshare just down the road. Just paid for food and gas. that trip was under $500.

Last year we did a one day ticket plus Halloween party. Drove and stayed across the street at Anaheim plaza ($59 night). Then on the way home we stayed at Sheraton Legoland (dd had won a one night stay there). that trip cost us under $500 as well since my mom bought our one day tickets as a gift.

We could never do WDW for cheap because airfare for 4 across the country would be at least $1200.

Our area in mn is currently under a blizzard warning. The snow is piling up and the winds are whipping the snow around!

Yea it would be nice to step outside and feel 80's and sun.

Cheapest we have done has been $1300 for 8 days staying off-site, this price included airfare, Hotel and rental car we had a great time:goodvibes wish I could go right now it is so cold here in NY and my lil girls are sick :sad2:

I heard on the news that it was COLD in Florida too! I'm freezing! I can't stand this bitter cold.

We were there monday morning and it was 24 degrees with the wind chill. Naturally a few families were walking around in shorts, t-shirts and flip flops. :rotfl:

maybe they're from the North Pole. ;)

I put on my heavy winter coat as soon as it gets to 45 degrees.

We are headed down wed. high tomorrow 19 or so low 7, with a few inches of snow and the same for the next few days. 50's & 60's in FL look AWESOME

Glad I put I put the car topper on today, wife thought I was crazy, 4 days ahead of time. But with temps I am not to worried, it should be frozen shut. :rotfl2:

If it makes you feel better, we just got off the Wonder on Thursday. It was cool the whole trip. Castaway Cay day we just got off the ship to eat lunch, stick our toes in the water & sand to say we did it and got right back on the ship. It was cold!

We are currently at AKV and it's a little warmer today than the last couple of days, but not the sunny, bathing suit weather I was dreaming about.

Ah, well. Just gives me a reason to plan another cruise and WDW trip!

It's cold here too, and I'm overwhelmed with the stress of getting everything done for the holidays, so I'm using my favorite escape "dreaming of Disney."

This past summer I booked POR for my family of 5 with FD for 6 nights for $2200. I thought it was a great deal, but the best part was that we had $1200 in Disney Visa points and Sunshine rewards, so only $1000 oop for the package. We drove and used our Discover points for gas and stayed with family on the way down, I don't count eating on the way there and back because if I was home we'd have to buy food. The week we were there I used Disney GC from Sunshine rewards for expenses and charged the balance to the room (tips , souveniers misc) and ended up with a $181 bill at the end of the week. This was the cheapest trip I could have imagined. It was great too, beautiful resort, great food, really fun trip.

I know a lot of people here don't like the use of credit cards, but we charge EVERYTHING including car insurance, the utility bills, the phone bills, fast food. You name it , we charge it and I really make those rewards work for us. This past year we had more than usual because we were able to make some big charges for someone else who doesn't have a cc and get reimbursed by them.

I charge almost everything to Amex, and 2 years ago I was able to book an off site condo with those points. I'll have to look into doing that again. I just don't think I have enough points.

I can't go b/c of school. It's my first year of DD in Kindergarten and you can't just miss school like in preschool. Oh well; maybe something during the summer. But it might not be Disney... :scared1:

I totally feel you - for a few years we went to disney every January, we missed one year when we went to Africa, this year we are missing and going to mexico. I know mexico will be great, and we will have a fabulous time, but I am having disney cravings...I think it is just because I don't have anything in particular to look forward to in mexico because it will all be new, as opposed to disney where part of the fun is revisiting favorites

ANYWAY the cheapest I ever got was $1800 for 3 of us, 10 days at ASMu with dining plan and hoppers in '06. I am still amazed at that rate  It was the glory days of the dining plan too, with apps - we really had such a great time...least favorite hotel, but overall, our very favorite trip

So I was talking to DH last night and he brings up that since we had such a nice time at Disney last spring break (also done on the cheap), he thinks we should go around that time again, if I can finagle something under $2000. The problem is, last year we had some leftover hopper days so tickets were not an issue. This year I only have 1 leftover day.
