It was 22 degrees outside this morning. I was just not made for cold weather. I want warmth and sunshine. Unfortunately, Disney is probably completely out of the question this year. All my vacation dollars are earmarked for a big trip this summer and my budget is so tight this year with DD in college, that it practically squeaks.

Sorry, just venting. I can't actually vent in real life because we are a lot better off than a lot of people.

So I was wondering, how cheap can you budgeters make a Disney trip? My all time lowest (including tickets, food, and driving down) was $1,000 when my oldest was 8 and my youngest was just a baby. We stayed at some cheap HoJo off property for 6 days and had an absolute blast.

our cheapest was about $900...we stayed at a holiday inn off-site and ate very cheaply, with few souvenirs. DD was 5 (she's 13 now). i know how you feel. it'll be at least 2 years before we get to go back to wdw, if at all, and it was 17 degrees here in NE alabama this morning. :( weatherman says monday morning, we could be below zero when you factor in wind chill.

I woke up this morning to hear wind chills at zero. DH and I were in Disney a few weeks ago and it was perfect weather, in the mid-seventies.

Airfare alone to Disney for the 4 of us (2 DD) is $1,200 so we cannot do a quick unplanned trip. I usually save up 2 years for each trip.

I'm right there with you. We've only made one trip as a family, but I've priced out other options and with airfare, tickets, hotel, and "free" dining, the cheapest we could swing would be ~$1500. That's if we got a GREAT deal on the air and if we could go in Jan-Feb.

Our weather? 3-5" of snow tonight. An additional 6-10" tomorrow. Wind chill values between -13 and -23. Low temperatures around -15. I feel like Eeyore.

"It's snowing still," said Eeyore gloomily.
"So it is."
"And freezing."
"Is it?"
"Yes," said Eeyore. "However," he said, brightening up a little, "we haven't had an earthquake lately."

I heard on the news that it was COLD in Florida too! I'm freezing! I can't stand this bitter cold.

If it makes you feel any better... The highs through the weekend in Florida are 70 and then next week in the mid 50s - it would still beat the weather here but it would not be fun to be at Disney with those temps!!!

They are forecasting lows in the 20's over the next few days! Makes me feel better about postponing our Christmas trip until next year!

Here in Canada last night our temp. was -20Celcius (don't know what that is in Farenheit) but I can assure you the word cold does not even begin to describe it:scared1: LOL

We also are dreaming of a Disney Christmas which is not going to happen. Stay warm everyone.

We are a family of 5, and my kids are growing fast, so it is hard to stay in a small hotel room anymore.

We get SkyAuction condos for between $149-$249 for the entire week, including taxes.....that comes to between $21-$35 per night, including taxes. Plus we get the added bonus of 2 bedrooms and a full kitchen. They are older units, so this is not for the new plush high rise condos, but we don't care.

Then we can get Disney Y.E.S. passes for a week for $750 for all 5 of us.

Drive down and around town and back is around $200.

Dog sitting- $150

Food I actually don't count as we take a huge cooler with us with food that we would normally have spent for a week anyway.

Roughly $1300 for 5 of us including dog sitting and transportation.

Now, we do go off season which makes a huge difference in the deals to be had.

Don't feel too bad. It's almost that cold in Orlando these next couple of weeks. Snowed in NW Florida this week, projected wind chills in the single digits in NE Florida early next week, lows will be in the 20s in Orlando, too.

Sitting here in NY freezing and thinking the same thing! ::yes::::yes::::yes::::yes::::yes::::yes::::yes::::yes::

...I am also wondering if I did go, could we swim?...I can't afford tix and plane tix

sending sunny thoughts!:sunny::sunny::sunny::sunny:

I guess the cold snap is all over, including Florida. Still, highs in the 50s don't sound nearly as bad as highs in the 20s. Besides, I could probably figure out some way to have fun at Disney anyway.

JetBlue is having a sale... leave tomorrow (Sat. 11th, and return either, M,T, W and get 50% off your airfare! Code is BIGTEN

I am so tempted to surprise my DD7, as we still have our unused give a day tickets... someone stop me, I'm about to book :woohoo:

Don't ask me to stop you, I am an enabler!

Besides, your passes expire in 4 days!

We're here in WI. We just got some snow yesterday and it's in the 20's today with more snow this weekend. My trip to WDW and the Dream is a year away. I try to plan the WDW around free dining. The four of us went last year to WDW for around $900 not including air. I pay off a little each month and then it doesn't seem like such a budget buster. I also belong to most of the discount airlines airfare alerts to catch the best deals. We always stay on property at the values our favorite being POP.

It's always park tickets that are the largest expense for us, but now that DH is back in the Army reserves, we can go pretty cheap.

We are going for a few days in 2 weeks, just the 2 of us driving (We are only 6 hours away) and it is still gonna be about $1000, but that is because we are there Dec 24 thru 26 and even Value rooms are expensive, even with the 30% Military Discount. But, it would still cost us just as much to ge anywhere else and I wouldn't be as happy.

There is a coupon for 30% off dining at a few CS places on the Disney Blogs that starts Dec 19 thru Jan 1, I think. I printed a couple of those to help us out.

DO IT! I took DD in May when Jetblue had their $20 each way sale. We literally went for a day and it was a blast! It was just the pick me up I needed :)

I just looked for us to go. Unfortunately all the flights for us, even with the 50% off were still over $800 :(

Have fun!!

Ahh...another MN, right? If I wasn't looking at WDW in 4 weeks...I would probably be going a little nuts, too. Cold and snow don't bother me...it's the sun I need! And I haven't seen it in a long time!!
